I still find it the most useful if I can't get to a computer. Very quick, easy, quite comprehensive. I find myself pulling it off the shelf several times a year. (Compared to several times an hour for Google! LOL)

Massive fudge factor there, Rev. "Oh, we stick in a thousand years here, and voilà! It looks pretty good." Reminds me of this exchange in the 1988 VP debate:

Now, when we have other countries that can't manage their economy down in Central and South America, we send down the American ambassador, we send down the International Monetary Fund, and we tell them what they can buy and what they can sell and how to run their economies. The ultimate irony would be to have that happen to us because foreigners finally quit buying our securities.

I would add to what Bentsen said, "They have taken this country from the No. 1 EXPORTER OF FINISHED GOODS in the world to the No. 1 IMPORTER OF FINISHED GOODS in the world. Voodoo economics, voodoo eschatology.

I was a Christian — pentacostal — for 15 years, and where I worshipped the pastor also had a 3 year bible college operation, which I completed, but mostly I just read the bible umpteen times, expanded my Greek of which I had a year in college, my Hebrew which I started studying in 8th grade with classmate Mike Goodman, who also went through all 4 years of Latin beside me. But I will say, this old preacher, while lacking in traditional scholarship from a secular point of view, was a truly inspired and powerful preacher, and a great-hearted man. Pastor James Roosevelt Reynolds of the Deliverance Center in Portland Maine. I will love him and all those people till the day I die, because they were instrumental in restoring my state of mental health after a too-far excursion into psychedelics in the 60's and 70's. My Christian experience was from '78 to '93 (the year I read Spinoza).

As I said in a post above to Disgusted, I get emails from a lot of conservative websites, which started appearing after I posted a comment on Town Hall, on an article I found on Google News, which is my home page. I don't comment on those articles in general, or even read them. But when they make unkind remarks about me, as "No Good Atheists" by Wes Moore a couple of weeks ago, and then this one here, I admit, I feel obligated to stand up for myself, because I am a highly ethical and conscientious man. I reserve the right to be offended when someone ignorantly impugns my honor. I'm quite happy to tolerate freedom of religion for all, and I admire many who actually live the benign life Jesus taught. But far too many of the Christians today are more Pharisee than Disciple. As Dr. Cornel West says, there's a difference between prophetic Christian and Constantinian Christian.

I can speak to that question in the last paragraph. I get emails from a lot of conservative websites, which started appearing after I posted a comment on Town Hall, on an article I found on Google News, which is my home page. I don't comment on those articles in general, or even read them. But when they make unkind remarks about me, as "No Good Atheists" by Wes Moore a couple of weeks ago, and then this one here, I admit, I feel obligated to stand up for myself, because I am a highly ethical and conscientious man. I reserve the right to be offended when someone ignorantly impugns my honor. Don't you? P.S., I salute you for your first and second paragraphs in which I take you to mean, you are not given to prejudging people by labels but you live by "by their fruits ye shall know them." I subscribe to that mind as well. I think Chris was mistaken in thinking you were attacking him. I hope I was right about that.

the first question is, are there ANY universes outside our own. Experimental data acquisition equipment is being designed to catch the only evidence that current mathematics suggests could ever transpire from one to another, that being gravity. There is a study afoot to monitor any gravity waves that might lead to observable evidence of other universes.

Much of scientific evidence today points to the idea that "there is no such thing as nothing". We know with certainty that zero point energy exists. Virtual particles, an electron and positron pair, for example, constantly emerge out of the nothing and disappear back into it. What we think of as "nothing" is more like a position, say, of a guitar string, which vibrates up and down. When it passes the zero line, we call it nothing. It is arrogant in the extreme to make such assumptions as, that the big bang came from nothing. someday we may understand that that is very juvenile and primitive. Your spiritual forebears burned Giordano Bruno at the stake because "obviously" the earth, the seat of God in Flesh, would never move. "Eppur si muove" — but it does move, Galileo is said to have whispered under his breath, after retracting his teaching under duress.
