The Film Nest : 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans' Review

Though I'd never seen Abel Ferrara's original, I'd been looking forward to seeing this. The visual aesthetics of a direct-to-DVD release doesn't sound too positive, but I'm glad Cage is good in this. He needs it. 'Adaptation' was his last great performance.

The Film Nest : DiCaprio and Maguire on 'The Third Man' Remake?

The zither score is definitely tight. I need to watch the film again, as I wasn't able to give it a proper spin the first time around. I love Cotten and I love Welles, so there's no reason this film wouldn't be completely up my alley.

The Film Nest : Paramount plans 'Paranormal Activity' Sequel (Video)

They would be wise to learn from 'Blair Witch II,' which was a conventional "Hollywood" film, no longer using handheld cameras and no longer even relating to the original, aside from the title. It would be far smarter to just devise a similar scenario to 'Paranormal Activity' and slap a '2' on the title. i don't think the film needs any company and stands alone perfectly on its own.

The Film Nest : Spike Jonze "Fairytale" Short Film starring Kanye West

The Film Nest : 'Paranormal Activity' Review

Finally saw it tonight. The experience was awful, but the I enjoyed the hell out of the film. Sadly, it's one of those films you're bound to get loud teenagers in, unless you sat through an uninspired matinee. They just wouldn't shut up and they were everywhere, but whatever. I was given goosebumps from pure fear at one point and Peli sure knows how to ratchet up the suspense. Definitely worthy of the hype.

The Film Nest : Director Ridley Scott goes 'Red Riding'

The "Red Riding" miniseries is playing at the AFI Fest in LA in a couple of weeks, which I wanted to check out, but it's playing alongside films I want to see slightly more. It sounds pretty sweet. I saw the "State of Play" miniseries right before the film came out and enjoyed it. Now, I have the film sitting on my TV stand in its Netflix sleeve, as it's been for the past few weeks. I think the adaptations are good from a standpoint of lending exposure to the source material, but don't know if paring them down by more than 50% in runtime is a good enough exercise.

I love the bottom of the 'Into the Darkness' poster. "Coming Soon. 2011." Wow, that's right around the corner! And why is there even a teaser poster for that movie? There's no one in it. Strange.

The Film Nest : 'The Box' Preview

I agree the 'Saw' theme seems out of place in the trailer. I remember it was used in the 'Deja Vu' trailer a couple of years ago. However, i think the theme is awesome. Although 'Darko' seems to be universally loved, I'm one of the people that couldn't really get into it, either. I'm eager to see this, though. The concept is a great one.

I'm still looking forward to peeping this. Certainly the more crowded, the better, I'd imagine, similar to the comedic film-watching experience. I'm at least glad it's a worthy film and not something merely masquerading as such.

The Film Nest : Adrien Brody set to hunt 'Predators'

It certainly seems a odd choice, especially when considering the beefy bodies offered up in the initial 'Predator,' which I re-watched just a couple of weeks ago. I have a tough time envisioning it, but nobody believed in the RDJ 'Iron Man,' casting, so I hope it works out.

The Film Nest : RZA inks 'Due Date' and is working with Eli Roth on"Fist"

I think his role in the 'Funny People' trailer was about as long as his role in the movie, both depicting different takes on the same scene. Very odd that he'd be doing comedies now, but with Wu being about as low as they can go (does a nine member group - counting Cappadonna - really need guest artists on their albums?), it's good for him to branch out into something else.

The Film Nest : Chris Rock and Oprah are 'Black F

I remember reading the article, as well. Basically, the author puts up an ad on Craigslist seeking a black friend, trying to broaden his horizons a bit, I guess. It would definitely be nice if Rock was given a role he could be funny in. If done properly, it could be amusing.

The Film Nest : One Sheets This Week: Twilight: New Moon, Bad Lieutenant, Dare, more!

Props to 'The Mechanic' poster designer for putting the writer's name just as big as the director's. The 'Capitalism' poster is pretty cool. As much as I'm looking forward to 'Bad Lieutenant' the posters are pretty poor. The first one looks almost exactly like 'Bangkok Dangerous,' with the second one being the ultimate in feeble attempts.

The interview isn't the easiest watch, as the interviewer speaks in Italian with no subtitles, but QT's answers are all in English. It's funny to see the reactions to questions and stuff. The 'Kill Bill' part comes up at 5:55 for those interested in skipping ahead.

The Film Nest : Central Perk's "Gunther" Says 'Friends' Movie a Go

Batman wasn't a sitcom, but it was a three-camera show, essentially. As far as a I know, that's how the movie was as well. However, I don't think it was actually released theatrically. It'd be odd to see "Friends" turned into a single-camera feature and I really don't see it working very well.

Good point. With that in mind, has a 3-camera show been adapted to a film? I know the 'Honeymooners' exists, but that couldn't have been more a bastardization of the TV show. I used to want a 'Seinfeld' film when the show went off the air, but now realize it may have even tainted the series' image. I don't think this could end up being any different.
