40 years and done.
My wife smoked cigarettes for 40 years. She wanting to quit, tried the patch, the gum, cold turkey and hypnosis, and still smoked a pack and a half a day and felt very guilty. We accidently found a mall selling e-cigs. She was done with regular cigarettes that day. Over four months later she is working to reduce her nicotine intake. Her smoker's hack is gone. Her taste buds are refreshed. Her guilt is gone. I don't smoke and she felt bad for making me be around her smoking. We would have to plan trips around where we could stop so she could smoke. Of course knowing we were going to be in the car, she would stress over her next cigarette and smoke an extra one prior to leaving. Her breath is now fresh, and her clothes don't stink. I am no longer a second hand smoker. She can walk into meetings and not feel bad for the people having to sit near her and her cigarette smelling clothes. Freedom was her first real feeling when trying to descibe her emotions. Go to ECTransition.com and experience what a friend and four pack a day former cigarette smoker called a miracle. I worry about the power of the press to scare the masses.

What else to say; "join a force for positive change." The Foster Parents Association of Washington State is a group of voluteers that work to care for these children once they are removed from there abusive homes and also work with the State to improve their system. You can support FPAWS at FPAWS.org, then get your friends to support FPAWS as well.

Support the people who work on this stuff every day. We find people in the system that want to make it the best it can be. We are often their voice because they can not speak up. We have several thousand foster parents capable of working with these parents, when going home is a possibility. We are working to create a system were some foster parents are seen as professionals with higher expectations.
