I am torn on this decision. I think it is silly to spend all the money on the exhibit (both from the perspective of a patron and from the perspective of the museum) to leave it devoid of any specimens on purpose. Alternatively, I feel it will be very powerful image for those of us so far away from the gulf to begin to glimpse the lasting affects of this environmental disaster.

Yes, you are reading this wrong. You are making a false leap of logic to assume the same cost burdens of busing the the Regina students apply to the busing of public school students as well. There are several confounding efficiency factors (such as sheer number of public school students vs. private students, number of destinations, number of pick-up locations, existing bus routes, etc.) at play that your false logic doesn't consider. The article addresses this when they cite the reasons busing the Regina students is inefficient - but not very well.

The IMU is not closed, just the Iowa House Hotel (adjacent to the rear of the IMU), and lower floors. The remainder of the IMU appears to be open still.
