Atomic Toasters : User Input: Carnies Wanted

I live in Detroit and have a platinum pass for Cedar Fair. Your best days to go are Early in the season on a weekday or Sunday, after any major holiday (like the 4th of July) or any Friday night or Sunday during the fall. Wait times will be minimal. I've walked onto world record breaking rides in their first year of operation during those times. The only time I break that rule is opening day. I plan on being one of the first 1,500 riders of Gatekeeper. I have not missed a major ride opening since 1989.

I would kill for 30-40 minute wait times. My home park Cedar Point has 1-2 hour waits.

I'm pretty sure attendance is still down at those parks and I'm also sure that the Europeans and Japanese don't want those parks, but they did get the better of the rides and themes. Space Mountain here in the states is still very 80's NASA-ish. Nothing wrong with that, but the Euro Space Mountain has this awesome Jules Verne theme. It's really well done. The Haunted Mansion in Paris is really gory and sticks to the original story that Walt intended. Basically a groom is killed by a ghost and it's made to look like a suicide. So the bride kills herself in response and you "explore" the mansion as she tries to contact you to get rid of the evil spirit. In the states, it's just a spooky house. Shitty attendance, but better rides. Go figure.

:sigh: OK, Disney is a theme park. That works, but the parks in Japan and Europe get newer and in some cases (I'm looking at you Paris Haunted Mansion) better attractions that actually contain the things Walt wanted and are not watered down for 'Merica. Paramount no longer has any parks. Cedar Fair bought them back in 2006, that includes Canadia's Wonderland. That's not the issue though. The issue is you called Paramount and Six Flags as "theme" parks. Those are "amusement" parks. Theme parks have a theme like Disney or Universal. Amusement parks are pretty much just about the rides with no real link between the park midways. /nerdrage Anyway... An AT Theme Park would have to have some old shuttle rides. http://rcdb.com/8192.htm and of course the Rocket Ships. What kind of people would we be without Rocket Ships. Don't forget the flying turns. http://rcdb.com/1909.htm Ahhhhh... That's good old timey vomiting.

I knew you would understand. Those comedians that compare flying to the bus are dead on. You know... we could make a killing starting a travel business that requires a dress code. Start with planes, go to sea travel, maybe take over buses and trains eventually. We'd have to find a way to add a no d-bag clause because I fear it would attract their patronage, but this could be done.

Thanks to modern technology, we won't have to wait 70+ years to find the wreck. I'd buy a ticket if I had the cash under one condition. Everyone was forced to dress and act the time period. That includes steerage. No sweatpants, no mickey mouse t-shirts, no admittance to dinner without proper attire. Gentlemen will retire to the lounge for cigars and card games while the women do whatever it is they did then. Children will play with spinning tops, wooden wheels and sticks, NO VIDEOGAMES. We'll waive hanky's as we cast off, there will be a proper band etc... Ship goes down, women and children first. That's the only way this could be any good.

Hey, it's Dearthair! You should make myself, Fodder, Engineerd or all of us in charge of the Atomic Toasters/Hooniverse G+ pages so we can share the content. There was another mass exodus to G+ recently and it's been complete radio silence from those pages. Just a thought that is probably more suitable for a private message.

This was an odd news story to wake up to. You're sort of in that dreamy/sleepy state and you have a very real "O-Shiiiiiiit" moment when you remember that asteroid passing an arms length (relatively) above our heads in less than 12 hours. Then you remember that scene in Armageddon when NY (it's always them) gets hit hard by a pre-meteor shower. 5 minutes later, the part of your brain that handles logic and reason wakes up. That's when you stop shooting at the neighbors and yelling "This is Thunderdome, and death is listening!" I should probably lay low for a couple of days.

Atomic Toasters : Days Gone By

If you're ever in the "D" once this place opens, I suggest you make it a point to visit. The new owner has a couple of restaurants north of this location and the food is fantastic. I worked for the owner when he first opened The Clarkston Union back in 1997. Heavy portions and "Plowshare" meals. It's very manly food, with a touch of class for the ladies. The Restaurant is in a 100 year old Methodist church. If that restaurant is an indication of things to come, expect the Vinsetta to remain as close to the original structure as the health department will allow. The signature dish is the Mac 'N Cheese, of course I'm partial to the Grilled Cheese which is a baguette with imported brie and tomatoes. There is a little something for everyone there.

I am able to pick that scream out of a ton of movies. I always thought it originated from Jedi during the Sarlac scene. There is a woman screaming in Dawn of the Dead (Remake) that is used in a ton of movies as well. No matter how serious the scene when I hear her or our friend up there, I laugh pretty hard.

Atomic Toasters : Did You Feel That?

I've noticed odd flashes of light in the morning these last few days. Just before sunrise when it's still slightly dark. At first I thought it was the street lamp outside, but I noticed them while trying to get dressed in the dark (DO NOT DISTURB MRS. JAZDY, YOU WILL DIE A PAINFUL DEATH) in my bedroom. The window in my bedroom faces the house next door which is about 7' away and the light from the street does not reach the space between the house. Is it possible that this is what I'm seeing, or do I have a brain tumor? Does anyone else smell burnt toast?
