Big Government : U.K. Cancer Death Rate Is 38% Higher Than In U.S.

Is that supposed to be the percentage of the total population, or just the percentage of those who have cancer who die?

Big Government : Thursday Open Thread: Thanksgiving Edition

It was a good deal more difficult than usual for me to think of a list of things I'm thankful for this year. It was a little easier when I thought of all the folks here who pay attention, are getting involved, and spreading truth, bit by bit. So thank you, to all of you, and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Haven't you seen? Volunteering and providing a public service for free is no longer allowed. The SEIU is threatening a lawsuit against scouts for a similar project.
Big Government : Real Obama Miracle: Creates Jobs AND Congressional Districts With Wave of Hand

The government can't "create" jobs. All they can do is take money from one and give it to another. All they have to work with is our money. Think about it.

Big Government : Truth and Consequences of Health Care Reform

It's ridiculous to argue that health care reform, and a component of health care reform (i.e. tort reform) are too big an issue combined to tackle simultaneously. They are intertwined. Neither is tort reform on its own incapable of being enacted - Texas has managed to pass tort reform, and lowered health care costs. If the argument here is that our elected representatives can't vote to represent their constituents, but are instead at the mercy of the big, bad, rich lobbyists, then we need to be electing some new representatives. Who, after all, has the opportunity to vote and pass legislation? (Here's a clue - it's not the lobbyists.) http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1...

"We and our children will be paying that money back to the Chinese for decades, and we have nothing to show for it. Some people might call that indentured servitude." The greater problem comes when no one is willing to loan us money anymore, or China demands that we pay it back. We're getting to the point that we can't even make the interest payments. I saw this article yestereday: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/i... Note this paragraph: "The supply crunch has helped push gold to an all-time high, reaching $1,118 an ounce at one stage yesterday. The key driver over recent days has been the move by India's central bank to soak up half of the gold being sold by the International Monetary Fund. It is the latest sign that the rising powers of Asia and the commodity bloc are growing wary of Western paper money and debt." We MUST prevent any more massive spending. Our children can't afford it.

Big Government : Forcing Us to Buy Health Insurance Is Not the Same as Mandatory Car Insurance

Unless you live where I do, in which case your car is impounded on the spot if you are caught driving without liability insurance, illegal alien or citizen alike. It all comes back to the concept that your freedoms only extend so far as to where the next person's begin. You damage me with your car, you are responsible, so liability insurance is required. I don't have a problem with that, since I've seen what happens when someone with no insurance hits you. I DO have a problem with being told that I have to buy health insurance when they're planning on drastically increasing my premiums at the same time, and forcing me to pay to cover every smoker, drinker, obese person, and suicidal freak out there. It's completely the OPPOSITE of auto insurance. Auto insurance laws are to KEEP you from having to pay for those who make bad decisions. This health insurance plan is going to FORCE you to pay for those who make bad decisions.

Big Government : House Passes PelosiCare

That thought has crossed my mind as well. They are pretty much impotent at this point since they are heavily outnumbered, so all they have to do is say they fought the good fight, let the other side pass things that will piss people off, and the pendulum will swing back their way. I think that describes politics in this country for the past 50 years, which is why I'm pushing now for some serious change. I like the looks of GOOOH. www.GOOOH.com

I'm not seeing a whole lot of difference from one side to the next. Each seems to want to outspend the last, and blame all their problems on them, as well. But now we're all starting to see the truth, and so the pendulum might still swing, but the whole darned clock is about to come crashing down. www.GOOOH.com

Well, no one in their right mind really buys the argument that this was bipartisan. One paid-off Congressman doesn't equal support from all sides. (Not that those facts will keep the Dims from trying to make the claim, but we all know better.)

Let's get the power back to the people, and the problems we face with lobbyists, career politicians, and untold levels of corruption might become a little less severe. We've got to work together.

I guarantee you that Ciro Rodriguez in TX-23 won't be safe. That's my district, and he will FEEL OUR WRATH. He won very narrowly in the first place, and has been BOMBARDED with contact from constituents who opposed this nonsense.
