http://trinidadexpress.com/ : My Heart is Broken | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

Condolences to this child's family. After reading most of the comments here , it has triggered a few more questions of the possible scenarios, one reader mentioned that the grandfather should check his blood sugar levels as if it is high ican cause him to be forgetful etc......This made me think, is the grandfather suffering from early stages of Alzheimers? Has a full autopsy been completed as to determine an approxiamate time of death? This came to mind as one reader put it, that it was impossible to have a chikd in the car driving that distance and the child not making a noise for the entire journey to make the Grandfather constantly awarenof the fact that the child was in the car. Reading this comment made me think. Did the child suffer an unexplained infant 'cot death'even during grandpa's journey. If the child had an unknown mild infection this could also be a factor. Chances are that the child could have been dead even before grandpa reached his destination. Meaning, even if grandpa didn't forget to drop child off, let's say reached his destination, then reached to the back of the car to take out his grandchild out of the car seat ,chances are that he may have already been dead. . Sticking to the assumption that the child was alive all through the journey to grandpa's job ( who forgot he was in the vehicle)!and lets say the child was still alive when the car was parked, what about passers by near where car was parked. Didn't any members of the public see a child sitting alone unattended in a car park? I live in Uk and one day i pulled up in a neighbourhood to visit a friend, a car pulled up one the opposite side z, and i believe a man got out with a child, i can't remember if there was a mother there as well. My car was parked in a more convenient position which was more suited to that famly with a young child. Before i knew it the man and possibly a female occupant left the car, with bags etc. whilst i was getting my own stuff out my car, i got out only to realize that the child was left in the car by himself. I waited to see if anyone was going to come back for the child. I hadn't seen which house the driver went into. Somi got outnof the car quickly greeted my friend and said to her, i was concerned about a child who was left in a car unattended . I dropped my shopping in her house and went back and stood up waiting to see if anyone would. After a while, (could have beeen 5 mims or less a man eventually returned. I didn't accuse him right away, the first thinf i said to him was , would it be easier if i moved my car so he can get my parking space, so it will be easier for him to have easy access to bring the child into the house from car to building seeing it appeared the man had some bags as well. He said it was alright, but i insisted. When he refused i relised that he didn't plsn on staying for a prolonged period. That was when i told hime off, Firstly that it wasn't safe and thate the child could become ill being left in a car with windows rolled up, and secondly that his chold could be snatched. I saud to him never do that agin. The guy was quite casual about the incident, whilst i was worked up about it, he was relaxed etc. for the next hour it bothered me how casual he was , but i however felt so troubled and uncomfortable about i just witnessed.. What i'm saying is even just a few minutes tinan adukt would seem eternity to a child. This child in question was sleeping in his car seat , but could have woken up. If the person did not return within a reasonable period and would have phoned the police. Would i have attempted to get the child out of the car? That's another question, if i had , the cctv camera would have shown me trying to open the car and i would have probably been procecuted. Who knows? Again i ask the question in this scenario where the child actually die?Did passersby see the child and thought ' mind my own business'? The child may have aspyxiated, etc. The story is very sad, so many questions. We live in such a fast paced world, with so many distractions, gadgets vying for our attention. The people making accusations against the grandad, are some of the same people that perhaps drive whilst talking/ texting on their cell phones. Possibly endangering themselves and other drivers/pedestrians. Some of the bloggers here possibly drive recklessly jumping red lights, so they could reach their destination faster. Driving in excess of the speed limit etc etc. I believe the grandad is still in shock and will have tolive with the consequences of his actions/inactions. It's not an uncommon occurance in places like America. It still happens frequently enough, sad to to say. I still say grand pa couldn't have een just distracted, chances are he is early stages of an illness. Having said that everything is always in hindsight.

http://trinidadexpress.com/ : Twins, friend die in crash | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

The trouble with this tragic story is that, no lessons will be learnt from this. Coming from a club, most probably the driver was drunk and driving. Secondly, we have irresponsible parents allowing their lovey beautiful intelligent daughters out so late in the night to go to a club for 'fun'. Well where is the fun now. Thing is that even if you have strict parents, they could have gone out still anyway. Any which way you put it, it sadly seems that apart from people obviously needing to drive at the designated driving limit, and ensuring that they drive sober, Sad to say these girls were doomed to die. Many Many more young children such as these will continue to die unless people with ignorant attitudes feel like they have to drive fast to impress the young ladies or just because they are driving a fancy car, that people have tuh see what 'D' car could do. And with most young girls having the long time saying, 'GAS Brains' , for those who forget this ole time saying,' liking people who have nice car an' want tuh drive in it.') , Unfortunately this will continue to happen. I bet if any young girl now are given a choice a lift to 'D' club in a fast shiny car as opposed to a slower old car with probably an older safer driver, I'm sure each time young people will choose the former. It's just the way young people on the whole think. Nothing new there. All this talk of losing control of a vehicle, is just because the driver was driving too fast, most likely under the influence of alcohol. These drivers if they survive should be arrested and jailed for manslaughter at the very least. That's what it will take for irresponsible drivers to stop playing the ape when the driver is trying to impress the young ladies out there. I could just imagine the 'bawling' that will take place at this funeral of these beautiful, promising students. They have left behind I'm sure, very loving parents/guardians, other siblings, cousins, friends, teachers, grandparents. The list is endless, parents having to bury their children is no joke, it's a very gut wrenching experience which no one will want to experience , however unfortunately, seconds after the accident, passersby, would have viewed the accident and continued, on their own wreckless journey, stupid;y saying to themselves, 'That cyah happen tuh meh, like that man cyah drive ah what! :( So very sad, NO LESSONS WOULD BE LEARNT, WHICH IS WHAT IS GOING TO BE EVEN MORE UNFORTUNATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are there sufficient Neonatal Intensive care cots and specialized staff for round the clock until these babies are at lest close to term or until they weigh at least 1.2 -1.4kgs? Are there sufficient incubators ventilators ,artificial surfactant to administer, which is at least £400-600 a pop! Unless these babies are born at least 32-33 weeks gestation it's going to be difficult. They can survive if they are born at 24 weeks but only with very specialist care. . I wonder what gestation they'll be on March 14th? If the mom wanted to keep all 6 babies then she should have planned to give birth in the US or Europe. She will have some surviving babies, but the care for them developmentally will be astronomical. On that day ,provided they survive the c section she'll need 6 qualified intensive care nurses and a doctor at each bed space, 6 resuscitaires and the list goes on and on. Also doctors who can successfully intubated babies below 30 week preferably at the first attempt.. They should be delivered into plastic a bag each feet first, up to the neck keeping them warm. it they manage to be able to breathe on their own then fine, even so they will tire easily and will need respiratory support, hourly observations etc etc..I can go on and on since this is what I do everyday. If planned well it can be a joy if not.......... I believe the skill is there but the caring side , not so sure.!

It seems as though that the express enjoys egging on the criminals in the 'count up' in the murder rate. Year in year on they seem to get 'Joy' in thought that the murder rate will be higher than the previous year! Very soon they'll probably be asking the public to place bets and guess as to how many murders they think the country will have in any given year. Yes there are murders, and yes, obviously the public should know about it, but to me the Express has been glorifying this topic for many years now and this practice should stop now!!!!!!!!!

Only medical nursing and the social services should be allowed contact with this child. It appears that there can be a potential 'free for all' with people (though may have original good intentions) having access to this vulnerable baby, can leave her open to potential abuse. Just because 'celebrities are bringing supplies for this baby does not mean they have good intention toward this child. Just because a child that has been left homeless, it doesn't mean that all and sundry should have access to this child. This brings to mind the Jimmy Savilles of this world. God knows how many children in the world have been abused in this way , all in the name of 'Celebritidum' The only cuddles this child should be receiving are from the nurses and assistants or social workers. This child is not a toy, and is not for sale! She is a human being and hopefully be treated as such and not be given to anyone willy nilly who feels like popping up to the unit to have a cuddle.

Like I have said in the past, some Trinidadians seem to have been born with cell phones attached to their ears. Nothing else matters when that phone rings, not even their children. I agree with nahboi, she should be charged with neglect. Ignorance to the the highest degree. Thanks to some gravel which broke the full impact her child is still alive. There was very recent picture of her in face book , I believe with her band members and she looked like the Wendy we all know her lovely choclate brown self. It's all marketing as they say. Wish her all the best , something tells me that the make up of this band is quite odd. I'd be surprised if they had a hit.
Sounds like the end times to me are not very far away. At the very least the end of a decent Trinidad and Tobago. I think it may be a point of no return here > although nothing is impossible with God. But God Himself needs to be acknowledged before anything can be done significantly to help T & T Only the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ Triumphant return can hep us now. Or are Trinibagonians now too sophisticated to be believe in God! Since Trini's have gotten 'Rich', seems like GOD no longer fits in with their lifestyle. Such a shame, since He is the ONLY ONE WHO CAN HELP NOw. Seems to me like the powers that be don't have the answers. Only Christ does as HE ALONE is the Answer to all the current woes. Sounds already like the weeping and gnashing of teeth and soon all will be affected. No one is beyond escape whether or not you're involved in crime.

http://trinidadexpress.com/ : DOUBLE TRAGEDY | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

Very tragic circumstances indeed. I know the father needs support of his other children who it was mententioned are returning for the funeral. Is this wise? Apart from the obvious, (which are careless drivers in Trinidad who most don't seem to give a damn especially since cell phones are a free for all and no laws to enforce driving and talking on the phones). I believe Mr Persad needs to get on a plane and spend some time with the rest of his children before (God forbid), the same should happen to his children. This is very very heartbreaking indeed. My heart is heavy for this father ,but I firmly believe in just having a quick cremation and heading out of T&T to clear his head. Go Tobago get some quiet time away. It seems the very spot that his wife was killed the area itself needs to investigated. Maybe the area needs safety featuers which may help, spped bumps may help immensely, but until Trini's who it seems were naturally born to their blackberrys attached to their ears ,nothing's gonna change. Like one of the readers here suggested. Heavy prayers are needed. Far too many young people are dying needleesly on the roads. The sad thing is that as soon as the story is read people forget and don't think, hey that can be me, or hey maybe I can slow down a little . Leave home earlier, don't be distracted by changing of Cd's or even the unruly kids in the cars. Seems like sinceTrini's have gotten properous there is no need to care for each other anymore. If I knock you down dead it's as if it's a frog they have killed on the road. So callous and A Godless society Trinidad has become. Each person is only interested in getting ahead in the car lanes irregardless whether it may cost some one else their life, once it's not theirs. This story is too sad, what grief this father is bearing right now> I will even suggest that the father be placed on suicide watch since this can sink him to a depression, ans he may not find life worth living. His family need to give give huge amounts of TLC. May God Rest their Souls!

Such a very Flakey Topic when Trinidad and Tobago is Celebrating it's 50th Anniversary of Independence. Our Very Own Golden Jubilee. Just enjoyed live streaming of the event. Enjoyed the Re enactment of August 31st when our National Flag was raised and the Union Jack taken down. Just because a movie was made by Chris Rock and just because A Small group of uneducated people focused on Gabby Douglas's hair instead of her performance. Doesn't mean it is an important enough issue to Discuss in this point in time where there are very much more pressing issues to discuss. It seems like any every chance the Flakey writers of Trinidad Express gets they much throw in something about race, hair and colour. Trying to make it sound oh so educational/debatable etc. What a load of hog wash and rubbish. Thank God there are more sensible Trinidadians I hope who hopefully still don't only focus on these things. If they still do then they is no more Forward progress to be made in Trinidad and Tobago if the main pre occupation of some is hair colour etc etc. There are many more important issues to address. How about discussing the pledge for instance, who wrote it, what it means to us today etc, and how we can, reclaim some of those values once more, which by the way is not impossible.
