So how does the name of a place have "say so" on the type of neighborhood it is? If you had something named such as "Heavens Court", would you say the same for that? It's not the name of the place that you live in NM57, it's the people that sometimes live there. Could your neighborhood be classified as violent?? I'm sure in some way or another it can!

I agree 100%! I don't get how someones life, especially when it turns deadly always turns out to be a "racial" thing. Violence happens in all races, religions, etc. I guess people go to extremes to try and get their point across and all it does is knock them down a notch!

Maybe you just don't know any better cvs_mngr. Just like postreader said, let someone come at you with something DEADLY and see how you react. You'd probably grab the closest thing that was heavy and could do some damage, even if that thing was a gun...you'd use it to protect your life! Most things can be classified as a deadly weapon and to my last thought a knife wasn't excluded in that table. 8 months to get a DA to make a decision, come on now?! Okay being drunk and disorderly well you do stupid stuff but, when it comes to grabbing something that could harm you, by all means this officer did what was necessary to protect himself.. a shot to the leg or knee... okay I can see that but what if you missed?? I am sure that Officer Houpe deals with this situation on a daily basis just as the family of Kluttz. My prayers go to all that are involved here.

I understand what you are saying Bonez. It's absolutely ludaris that someone of any race would do this to a child. I don't agree with any of this as with everyone else. But, yes even unborn babies are subject to people making "hurtful" decisions, if you can't handle to job as a mother, father, caregiver, babysitter, or even what have you, don't take the responsibility!

How can someone honestly hurt a baby?! An innocent person who can't look at you and tell you what is wrong, someone who depends on you to feed it, to bathe it, to comfort it, and to love it. What is the world is wrong with people??? Absolutely sickening. I agree with Bonez11, someone should do to her as she had done to the baby!! I have 3 children myself and never in their little lives have I ever wanted to "harm" them. I couldn't!! Also I don't see how people who sell drugs and do all of this other stuff get a bong of $500,000 or more and someone who hurts an innocent human being only gets $200,000. (Yea, that's a lot of money too but, it's the point in the matter! What's wrong with that picture?!)

Well I am not arguing the issue with "if you are reared as a low life you live what you learn" but, some of us "americans" have issues with this too. You can't sole out someone because of their background or where they possibly came from. Some people as "Americans" whom were born and raised here do the wrong things too so, it really can't be called an immigration issue. But, it's your opinion so your entitled to it. =)

What a great story! It's good to pull up the paper and see uplifting stories such as this one. I too am a volunteer firefighter and in the beginning it was an overwhelming task but if you put your mind and heart into it, you can achieve anything! Good job Terri!

I am in agreeance with all of these other posts regarding this situation... why should someone who broke the law have a rally in their favor?? Why break the law and then cry wolf? She did this to herself. Who in their right mind would take their seatbelt off in a matter of minutes of getting a ticket for not wearing one in the first place.. how stupid. No, Officer Hunter isn't the best in his "people skills" so to say but, he is doing his job. I hate it for her daughter, poor thing watched along as all of this unfolded because of her mothers "horrible" judgement. What kind of mother are you to "show" you kids the wrong things? You are suppose to guide them, not corrupt their innocent minds. Jeez. I don't ever hear of different races calling on organizations to help them out when they get in trouble... what's that all about? People need to get a set of b**** when it comes to owning up to thier own actions not playing the victim card. Absurd!

If this "CREEP" is caught, (which I don't see that happening), lets get him on the left hand side of the road and have someone come and hit him just as he did this innocent man. Lets have the person get out look him in the eye and just walk away! Lets just see how he feels. I am sorry if some of you take that as wrong or what have you but, that is absolutely ludacris! Maybe this fellas mind will haunt him until he turns himself in! I couldn't imagine hitting someone and then not even thinking about it! Some peoples children!

I just don't get any of this situation. No, surely I wasn't there that night but of course the video is plastered everywhere and from what MY EYES can see.... I didn't see any wrong doing on the part of the gentleman who got hit by the officer. Where is this Officers punishment, with the exception of being out of "paid" leave? It's not like this Officer is loosing out on anything. Where is the justice for this man who got hit? Sure, I am sure that something somewhere was said but, it doesn't give that Officer the right to do what he did. Even if he was "resisting" him, that should have never been an option but the gentleman wasn't doing anything that anyone can see. Police Officers shouldn't be "immune" to charges as well!
