Thanks. Ironically I actually lost p for posting it. I think it has to do with volume and average, of course I don't know what goes into making the p sausage and frankly i probably wouldn't want to know. Haha.

Hooniverse : The Tata Nano Debacle

Alan, I would argue that this is an arena where there are a few universals transcendent of nationality. I have worked on marketing initiatives in over 20 countries and in categories that have image-based appeal (personal experience = Beer, Electronics and Clothing) people are proud to be able to show their stuff isn't the cheapest. I'm not going to argue the business case because I don't have the numbers, but let's keep something in mind here, even if you are making money and revenue this does not mean you are as successful as your investment could be. Tata, and a few business journals, have noticed that the Nano is not selling as it should. Tata is a major player and this is a gigantic segment of population, so they need to get it right regardless of how profitable the current vehicle is. A closer to home example would be if you're going to try to be a major player in the American mainstream car market you have to have a strong offering in the midsize segment. So whether your last midsize model made money or not, you still have to redesign it for a new generation and get back into the fray. Otherwise you will be missing out on one of the highest volume and most competitive landscape in automobiles. So to answer your comment, yes companies do, especially if it's a market they can't afford to lose. WSJ has an interesting article 2 years ago on the subject. http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB1000142405270230452...

I'd love to see Honda buy up Lotus. Lotus has been using Toyota/Yamaha motors to great success, but if they were together, both could see benefits. Maybe we'd get a proper CRX successor, more fun Si/Type-R models and Lotus could have access to a few solid platforms and stout parts bin. In all honesty though, with the major brands conglomerates like VAG and Fiat, most of the fun brands are in-house at a major group already. Some suffering a loss of vision... **cough** Lancia **cough**....

96 s14 240sx 5spd ka-t - $3500 (barnegat) <img src="http://images.craigslist.org/00I0I_6bTFtNuq9us_600x450.jpg"> http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/4873930757.html Ok well it has come to a point where I don't have a place to keep this car and I need it gone. I moved to CT and the car has been in NJ in a garage for the past 6 months. I just had to move it down to a friend's house now. The good: 550cc injectors Fuel lab fpr Tial wastegate Adjustable rear control arms 18" rims Aftermarket clutch (not sure which) SafcII Jwt Ecu Aem wideband Garrett 50 trim turbo Godspeed Fmic Kouki tails Etc... The bad: There's a rust spot on each side under the passenger and drivers seat and some cancer on the drivers rear quarter from water getting in through the antenna. Rails are all good Car runs and drives. Could use a dyno tune but is fine for getting around on the safc tune for now. First $3500 takes it. Don't ask if I'll go lower. I would like it gone this weekend. Email me if you're serious (that means you have cash in hand) NOTE: I was unable to show the car upon my first posting and haven't responded to many emails due to the fact I couldn't find the title. I have the title now. Also, the current asking price is 3300 since the passenger side window is damaged and will be the asking price until I get it fixed. txt the number in this ad or reply via email. Sounds like some issues to get sorted, but it's a 240SX. PS. If you want a clean one for over our price limit there is one for $6500... <a href="http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/4896743961.html" target="_blank">http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/4896743961.html

Hooniverse : CraigsList: The nicest 1988 Mercury Tracer wagon in the world

I always had a soft spot for these little cars. I like the 5-Door hatch the best, but the wagon's utility is hard to deny. They rust like crazy in places that use gravel and salt. A HS buddy of mine in MI saw his used one turned to dust in only a few years after buying it. I think the US ones were built in Mexico, but the Canadian ones were built in Japan or Taiwan.
