Let me just throw three at you that would suggest otherwise -- Jonathan Smith (one of the most successful QB's at OSU), Alexis Serna (Groza Award winner), Slade Norris ('09 NFL draftee, Pac-10 honoree). All walk-ons when they got to OSU. Sure, we could get into Laybourn (several Pac-10 honors last year), Yliniemi (Groza finalist) a few years ago, or even a Jake Cookus (whose name I'm guessing means nothing to 'angry', but does stand out to real OSU fans). No sense even getting into Adeniji, Remmers, Johnson, Olander or Hekker that are starting this year and proving they were worth being offered a walk-on spot. To get to the bigger point, what do walk-on "busts" matter? Walk-ons are a low risk, low investment proposition so it's not about the misses, but you have to give credit to OSU for the number of "hits" they've had with the walk-on program. Angry is a star gazer with no sense of history or perspective, pure and simple. He's never seen film on Storey let alone seen him in person to make a judgement, but the fact Rivals hasn't rated him yet and his offer list makes him think he's no good. Philipp has proven to be worth of his 4* (as did Joe Newton and Keith Ellison), but what about guys like Landingham, Lockheart, Alexander, or David Ross (who had yet to show he's ready for Pac-10 ball, but hopefully will step up soon)?
