Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: WSU presser

Obviously you also don't understand how OSU recruits. Recruiting is done regionally... the position coach is not necessarily the primary recruiter for the players at his position. Yes, the position coach becomes involved, but Cav's primary recruiting duty is players in Arizona, regardless of position. Which, by the way, he has done very well with - Phillip, R. Robinson, Weaton, DJ Welch, etc. You're not making a great case to show that you understand where the problem lies.

I've read a lot of crazy overreactions the past few days, but saying that Cav should be fired is easily the craziest of them all. You obviously cannot grasp or identify the difference between poor coaching and a lack of player talent if you're calling for the head of one of college football's top OL coaches.

Angry to use your analogy, your problem is not only did you not see Hendrix live, you're tone deaf but you don't even realize it.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: More spring Day 2

Interesting info on timing and such, but I think the question asked remains unanswered... "where would you rank Lalich's arm strength... is it better than Canfield's"? I'm interested to hear the answer, so I guess I'm re-asking beavfan05's question. How does Lalich's arm strength compare to Canfield's? Stronger, not as strong, or roughly equal?

Brooks Hatch : Thursday update: OSU softball starts Friday

Brooks: Baseball question... I see Stuart Fewel (P from Wilson HS) listed on the roster page on the official web site, but he's not included in any of the info in the media guide. Is he going to be with the team this year (perhaps a late addition to the team's plans for this season in light of the injury to Josh Osich)?

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: More on wrestling

Well, "angry" said he was 'uncomfortable' with it (one can draw conclusions from that admission regarding his insecurity with certain aspects of his life), but it is no surprise he tried to be "shocking". He's just plugging his blog with every post because he is desperate for attention and his one trick is trying to play the "pay attention to me because I say edgy, unpopular things" card.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Mass football news and notes

The deadline to declare for the draft as an underclassman is the 15th of January, and the deadline to withdraw if you change your mind is the 18th of January. That being the case, I'm not sure why you keep talking about the end of the January as the time when he'll "make a decision"/"figure it out". With a mid-Jan. deadline, it's not really an option to wait until the end of the month.

Cliff, please tell me you were being sarcastic and joking about seeing the UTEP dollar bill as a "bribe"/"unethical" and that I missed the humor you intended. .

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Football recruiting

angry says: "They'll bring up Mike Hass, though, for which there was one in school history. Meanwhile, I can name about 30 walk-on busts without thinking very hard." Yep, Hass is the only walk-on success we've ever had. Let me just throw three at you that would suggest otherwise -- Jonathan Smith (one of the most successful QB's at OSU), Alexis Serna (Groza Award winner), Slade Norris ('09 NFL draftee, Pac-10 honoree). All walk-ons when they got to OSU. Sure, we could get into Laybourn (several Pac-10 honors last year), Yliniemi (Groza finalist) a few years ago, or even a Jake Cookus (whose name I'm guessing means nothing to 'angry', but does stand out to real OSU fans). No sense even getting into Adeniji, Remmers, Johnson, Olander or Hekker that are starting this year and proving they were worth being offered a walk-on spot. To get to the bigger point, what do walk-on "busts" matter? Walk-ons are a low risk, low investment proposition so it's not about the misses, but you have to give credit to OSU for the number of "hits" they've had with the walk-on program. Angry is a star gazer with no sense of history or perspective, pure and simple. He's never seen film on Storey let alone seen him in person to make a judgement, but the fact Rivals hasn't rated him yet and his offer list makes him think he's no good. Philipp has proven to be worth of his 4* (as did Joe Newton and Keith Ellison), but what about guys like Landingham, Lockheart, Alexander, or David Ross (who had yet to show he's ready for Pac-10 ball, but hopefully will step up soon)?
