The science is really cool but the practical implications are unsettling. That's how a lot of science works, come to think of it. I doubt we as a society are going to give up modern pharmaceuticals, so I'm glad to hear better water treatments are in the works, even if they aren't commonplace yet.

On a totally different note, the phrase "crack-addled possums" reminds me of my all-time favorite internet comment ever: "three raccoons standing on each others' shoulders".
