All dogs, like people, are individuals - regardless of breed. Think of it like abused children ... some will grow up to be criminals, some will function normally in society, some will become fearful and withdrawn ... It all depends on the individual personality -- and the evaluator's definition of 'aggressive'.

Well, I can comprehend this: According to your hand analogy you only have, what, eight fingers? Please, take a firm stand. First you say that pit bulls aren't pets, now you're criticizing my having seven pets (eight if I include the cat). Moronic and pathetic are two of many words that come to mind when describing the Pit Bull owner's response, as stated in the article. But I also have to question the wisdom of Ms. Wilson taking 'Tiny' into the 'large dog side'. Admittedly, I have no idea of the park's layout, but is it so big as to not see a "pit bull" within it? Maybe Ms. Wilson can track the plate number through the Motor Vehicle Department, then file in small claims court for the vet bill. The Pit Bull owner had an opportunity to do the right thing, but instead perpetuated the negative image of Pit Bull owners. Thanks, guy.

Yes. I am TOTALLY serious. This was an unfortunate incident for ALL involved. More so for Dr. Klug. and even MORE so for Aiden. I'm sure that you have read about plenty of dog attacks resulting in death and dismemberment. So, when you think about what COULD have resulted, then, yes, Dr. Klug should count her blessings. And my choice of Pit Bulls for pets are not due to their "aggressive nature", but for their extreme loyalty, affection, playfulness, and athleticism. ALL animals can be dangerous when not handled properly, some more than others.

I normally don't reply to children, but I'll make an exception for you. Animal Control is required to follow the law, which is what they are doing. The dogs DID attack the dogs, but not the person. Dr. Klug's injuries were a result of an attempt to break up the dogs. Any one of them, including her own, could have bitten her in the melee. Most dogs under attack will bite back, as a defense, and I doubt that Aiden is any different. Nowhere does she state that the dogs attacked HER. All references by Dr. Klug are of the dogs attacking "him", "my dog", and "Aiden", not "me".

If it had been my dog that was attacked I would be upset, too. Would I go to the media with this? Probably not. Anyhow, things could have turned out worse so please, Dr. Klug, count your blessings. Aiden is still alive, as are you, and you have someone that is willing to take responsibility and pay for all of the medical costs for you and the dog. It could have been an unidentified loose dog, or one with an owner that doesn't have money. Ms. Strippoli is trying to do the right thing, so let her. God forbid Aiden, one day, sees a Yorkie that he doesn't like and bites it. And you can't say that "He would never do that" because he, too, is just an animal. Would you then euthanize him? Just some thoughts...

This is the problem. This "owner" should have ALL the dogs taken away as it is clearly demonstrated that she cannot control them. The dogs in NO WAY should have been allowed to get out of their yard and into their neighbor's. And she made no attempt to control the dog that "advanced" on the deputies? Also, I would like to know more information regarding the burglary report. VERDICT: IRRESPONSIBLE OWNER

As of this moment, the DA is holding off on charging him with animal cruelty until all medical results come back on the dog. There were no evident serious injuries to the dog. The police say that the dog is clearly hanging from a T-bar for a clothesline on the video. Animal Control says he will not get the dog back. Plascenia is right now back home.

Well-written letter. Notice, however, your use of the term "your dog" throughout. I wonder how "your dog" was turned into "them" dogs. If you feel as though the individual dog that you referred to as "your dog" is a danger to society, then I can agree with you. When you turn "your dog" into "them dogs", then I do not.

Nobody seems to mention the fact that there were TWO Pit Bulls present, yet only ONE attacked. Kind of blows away the theory that ALL Pit Bulls are vicious. I agree that too many of these dogs are owned by irresponsible people. Some people should be banned from owning ANY dog.

I do not debate the fact that Pit Bulls were bred "to be" fighters. However, they are not "born" fighters.
