Big Hollywood : Will 'Star Wars' Online Video Game Ask Your Child to Engage In Same-Se

I've played Dragon Age -- Origins, Awakenings, and DA2 -- and I am a 37 year-old mom of three. If you consider the Bioware forums, I'm not even unusual in the fanbase. I can assure you gay love scenes in the games have to be looked for and considered, very deliberately. In the years I've played the game, I have never seen them, in fact. I know they're there, I just don't seek them out.

And I've been hoping Bioware would return to more spicy romance scenes in Mass Effect 3, too. Here's hoping they don't cave to this sort of nonsense.

We women gamers are always overlooked, sigh. Although Bioware does a good job of accommodating us; I'm greatly anticipating this game.

Blah, the game is marketed towards adults. It simply isn't being designed for children to play and the violence and romance the gameplay will include makes that obvious. Any parent who chooses to allow their children to play the game are the ones who deserve to be smacked upside the head. Not the Bioware game designers, who make romance an OPTION in their games. My experience with Bioware games, anyway, is that the player has to seek out and actively create and maintain whatever romance they're looking for; none of it "just happens". Mind you, I've put money down in a deposit on my own copy of SWTOR, can't wait for it to be released, and, no, not one of my children will be playing it. I actually monitor and consider what my kids are doing on the computer, actually.

Big Hollywood : Time to Call Out James Cameron

Perhaps it's only you lack the imagination to tell that sort of story using such resources, in fact. Hollywood has demonstrated that same lacking over and over. Easier in so many ways to paint such men and women as mean, crazed, or otherwise victimized, it seems, since such is the story of them told over and over again. He survived an IED event, as well, yes. But hey! According to you there's no justification for telling the story so what earthly difference does it make what you hope for him.

As the wife of a soldier, I can most assuredly say I would tell HIS story had I the chance, the one that involves brave men and women fighting to make better this world of ours even and despite so many insisting to them their fight is the wrong one, as if they should be ashamed of removing an evil dictator and his repugnant sons from power in an oppressed land.

Big Hollywood : King of the Blacks

I respect the standard advice, of appreciating the value of private school education. But it's simply not always so possible to put one's children in a good private school. There's the cost, of course. But there's also the simple fact the closest private school might be too distant from home to warrant the effort. I finally decided the best thing I could do was strive, rather, to be as involved as possible in my children's public education. I monitor what they're studying, what their teachers are actually teaching them, and by approaching the teachers when problems do arise. I believe it's important to bring change to the public schools, in fact, rather than write them off as some sort of lost cause. There are too many children depending on those institutions, in fact, than to leave them be.

Big Hollywood : The Polanski Culture: Hollywood's Push to Normalize Sex With Children

I would agree, Keith, honestly. Except it's very often we have to struggle to really know what a movie is about before we walk into the theatre. Consider the recent film called "Invention of Lying". I was watching some of the trailors describing the movie and thought it looked cute and funny. I anticipated something that would describe the dangers of lies and/or uphold the value of honesty, sort of like "Liar Liar" perhaps. It wasn't until I came here and read some reviews I realized the tale was actually an attack on faith and religion. I might have actually purchased tickets to see the movie otherwise. There are a lot of movies like that, where the trailors depict amusing or otherwise engaging stories. I've learned I have to consider reviews before ever stepping foot in a theatre or buying a dvd. Doesn't mean I won't go ahead and watch the movie, just because a review is negative, mind you. But I consider carefully where it is I spend my money, too. Not everyone does that, though. I had to learn the importance of being that proactive, in fact.

Big Hollywood : Lonewolf Diaries: Brad Pitt Leading the Anti-Christian Charge

They remind me of the kids I went to school with, pretending at some sort of intelligence by bucking the so-called status quo. Most of us eventually grow up enough to see the inherent value in traditional morality, even if we don't neccessarily ascribe to it ourselves. Some lose themselves in that morass, however. Pity.

Big Hollywood : Lonewolf Diaries: Arresting Black People is Racist, You Pigs!

There's a huge difference between learning from history and clinging to it. I've studied enough history to know our nation has experienced tremendous progression over the decades. Have you? Motions were made in the 60s, real motions, laws and the like, designed to create a better, more diverse and pluralistic society, one based on fairness for all, right? That's what all of those motions were for, correct? What's good in making the motions if you're telling me we never go anywhere, if we never change and forever remain just as tired and ugly as ever? Why even try? And why, I ask you, should I even bother, if you're only ever going to tell me what someone was doing before I was even born, as if I am the same as that old person? You call me a racist, even as you label and dismiss me as nothing more than a White person. I will continue to live in a different world than you, perhaps. I don't dismiss people based on their race. Never have, never will. Can you say the same?

Funny, I went to school with plenty of young Black people. When I graduated, I attended college with even more Black people. Then I joined the military and served aside many more Black people. Currently, my next-door neighbors are Black. So...please...continue demonstrating the incredibly slow perception of change and difference you are right now. It's illuminating, to see how some people just can't seem to pull themselves out of the 60's long enough to observe where we really are.

I myself am a short, white girl, who's been stopped and questioned by police during walks at night in my own neighborhood. I never took it to be an insult. I figured they were doing their jobs, rather. Maybe that's me, though. I'm a woman who's father served in law enforcement for 20 years and ended up married to a military policeman. I'm biased, right?

Big Hollywood : My Weekly Date with a Liberal - 'Emotional Redistribution'

Your compassion is incredible. I try to adopt that same sort of care and concern when faced with the Liberals in my life, but I continuously come up short. There's just something weird about listening to my brother -- my sweetheart of a brother who's handsome, can't keep a job, can't afford to pay his own child support, can't manage to do much but whine and complain endlessly about which one of us was the "favorite child" growing up, in fact -- telling me I'm an "idiot" because of my views. I have finally left it simple. "When you can give me something more than 'I say so, that's why' as a rationale for believing anything, I might reconsider. Until then, I'm not the idiot here."
