Breitbart.tv : More Crew Members To Search Italian Ship

Was Obama steering it? He's like the captain of this ship. Things went south and so he jumped overboard to save his own rear end while denying any responsibility for the people on board. They're both cowards. The difference is one will be likely be punished for his actions.

Breitbart.tv : Economy Trumps Values For Voters In SC Primary

Bad title. Economic freedom - the right to own property, the right to benefit from your own labor - this is a fundamental, moral value. It doesn't 'trump' others, but its a priority right now.

Breitbart.tv : Internet Goes On Strike

I believe in protecting intellectual property, or any person's property for that matter. But you can't shut down electronic communications to protect Hollywood. You cannot destroy the foundations of one industry to protect another. You cannot sacrifice the rights and liberty of the people to theoretically protect the rights of others. That was the fundamental flaw with this bill and its approach. Luckily, I think the people shut it down today. Take note folks, you still have a voice in Congress, but you have to use it.

Big Government : Vermont's Three Members of Congress Give Staffers $236,830 in Taxpayer-Funded Bonuses

Each member of Congress gets what's called an MRA (Member's Representational Allowance). This is their operational budget. The bonuses come out of what's left in that budget after they pay wages and other expenses. So this isn't new money.

All the major networks are dinosaurs nowadays. I've seen many stories posted here on Breitbart several days before Fox picked them up, if they even chose to at all. I like Fox, and this is red meat for them to jump on. But my guess is that NH will be done and forgotten before they get around to it, and with their 24/7 bantering about these campaigns, and what all their talking heads think about them, it may not even get air time. It's a shame, really.

Breitbart.tv : Allen West: Biggest Mistake Was Voting For Pigford Settlement

You said you weren't referring to detainment of Americans. But that seems to be what you're suggesting. The bill excludes Americans from its provisions. There is no targeting of Americans. And regarding the terrorist language, it explicitly states those who support al-qaeda. Even there, it says those who "substantially supported al-qaeda or the taliban". Your donation example wouldn't qualify, even if it were realistic. I just hate to see people like Allen West and other legitimately conservative members of Congress torn down over some paranoia of what the president might decide to do with a bill which doesn't apply to American citizens. The paranoia is so great, that we can't authorize the president the power to detain people like the shoe-bomber and time square bomber because people believe ordinary Americans will be next. And it's terrorists like those that Allen West and other members of Congress authorize force against in the NDAA, not tea party members. There are few members of Congress who really are conservative and if you start taking shots at them you won't have anyone left on your side.

Breitbart.tv : Gwen Ifill To Huntsman: Is 'Moderate' A Bad Word?

The house could start the process but the senate would never finish it, so politically, it's a stupid move. Remember Clinton? It's the same situation. Only conservatives want the man impeached, and after this recent unconstitutional recess appointment fiasco, I'm in agreement. But unfortunately, not every republican is a conservative. And there's no use creating voter anger against the GOP over something we can't accomplish.

Breitbart.tv : Harry Reid Hopes GOP Tea Party Freshman 'Learned A Lesson' From Payroll Tax Cut Bill

That blog is STILL referring to the old Senate bill which IS NOT what passed. The conference report passed, with changes, AFTER this controversy. Everything you're looking at is old news and now irrelevant. Good lord guys, this isn't difficult. Read the REAL bill. I'm ashamed to say that the same people who rightly criticize members of Congress for not reading bills are no better themselves. Members of this site should be smarter than this.

I'm not defending heinous actions because there's nothing heinous in the bill. There's plenty to be upset about without the need to waste your time and anger, while misleading others, about stories that are plainly false. Why don't you focus that anger on REAL problems instead of spreading myths you read somewhere on the internet? Because misinformation isn't helping anyone, it only makes things more difficult on all of us. And I'm hoping that the general population out there is more intelligent in their anger than you are. You've already shown here that you're either too stubborn to admit you're wrong or too thick headed to read the bill and understand what's going on. I'm a conservative with libertarian streaks, so I'm not pro-government. At the same time, I'm not going to spread myths about the government just to make people more angry and paranoid. Cut it out.

_42_, this is what I mean. You aren't even posting the bill that passed. You just quoted sections of the old senate bill, NOT the conference report which passed and will be signed by the president. The language is completely different. But most people don't know that. This is the conference report: http://www.rules.house.gov/Media/file/PDF_112_1/l... ^^^ Look up sections 1021 and 1022. If anyone posts section 1031 relating to detention, they're looking at an old bill, one which didn't pass both chambers. The Conference Report is the actual language which the congress passed. By all means, be skeptical of the government. I am as well. But don't let blogs and old news media hype distract you from what's actually happening. I guarantee you the first bill made the front pages of the media and spread all around the internet. But the actual bill which passed didn't garner any media attention because it added provisions protecting citizens. I know this, I work for the house. And unfortunately, this bill is going to turn into another old wives tail because all the fear mongering media stories, from any outlet, are referring to an original draft the senate handed down, not what actually passed. No where in the NDAA does it authorize the executive to detain American citizens indefinitely.
