Here's a URL for a recent article in the Los Angeles Times which may make us think a bit deeper. Please keep in mind that I lean to the left of center, but don't let that bother you too much, okay?

I just need people who want to get together occasionally to grill cuts of meat, marinaded with whatever, over charcoal with apple wood for smoke flavor, a whole afternoon, beer, wine, coolers, whiskey, bourbon, water, whatever . . . . just to be together and have a good time. Unfortunately, in the current circumstance I'm in I am unable to brew beer (DAMN!) although I am willing to help and guide anyone who wants to learn how to do so!!!!! Other than that, I grill really, really well. Have grill, am willing to travel!

Doesn't work because of texture. Baked with dark brown sugar and butter, okay, but it doesn't grill well. You could try it on a grill with a warming tray, indirect heat, off to the side. Still, not my cuppa. Winter squash and the back of my throat have a "It ain't goin' down here!" reaction. Your mileage may vary.

Zucchini, yellow crookneck, even egg plant work wonderfully on a grill. Cut them length-wise, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper-- grill over medium heat, either charcoal or gas, basically enough to soften with grill marks, both sides. Absolutely wonderful! A side dish of fresh tomatoes with salt, pepper and mayo, your favorite meat, potatoes or corn on the cob-- a meal fit for kings . . . or queens, even!

Zucchini, summer squash or even egg plant slices . . . oh, you wouldn't believe wonderful things you can do! Slice them length-ways, drizzle with olive oil plus a bit of salt and pepper, grill on medium charcoal or gas, quickly-- absolutely wonderful! Slice some yellow onions and let them caramelize (almost turn black, but not quite), works together as a side dish. Next to halved fresh tomatoes with a bit more salt, pepper and mayonaise-- mmmmmmm, good!

Well, so far as I can figure, I've made absolutely no comments on KATU which would warrant being banned! Others have made much worse than I have and still are posting away. I just don't understand. I went back to my dashboard and checked all my KATU posts back several days and didn't see anything that could be considered that objectionable-- with the exception of one, back when someone wrote in the original story about the graffiti in Happy Valley about black and brown scum. I replied that there's more white scum than any other variety and reported the original comment to KATU for being racist and objectionable. The whole thread was deleted. That's the only comment I've made in there in the last 2 weeks that could be considered objectionable, but I don't think that's what this is about. We'll see, providing I get feed back from webstaff@KATU.com.

Hee hee hee! Well, I temporarily quit taking the med that prohibits alcohol consumption (per the doctor, it can cause complications in the liver, of all places!) so I can indulge over this long weekend without problems. We picked up a fifth of Dickel's #8 Tennessee Whiskey on sale for to make a glaze for the pork loin and just HAD to have a few samples to make sure it was good enough. Turns out that it is, but the bottle is now 3/4's empty! Good thing we only need 3 Tablespoons for the glaze, hmmm? Had to take some aspirin around 2:00 this morning cuz I'm not used to liquor, usually stick to beer and occasionally wine.

Hey, shoot me an e-mail (Griz said he sent you my addy) so I'll have yours and maybe you and yours and I and mine can figure out a time when we can meet and grill that rump roast before the good weather turns sour for the winter. If you want to do that, that is. If not, no biggy. Cheers!

You were into the 'shine again, weren't you?! You naughty girl! You know granddad said it's no good until it's aged at least 3 weeks!

Looks like I've been banned from KATU's website Intense Debate forums. No indication of why, no one from KATU staff has looked at my dashboard. I've made no remarks there that could be considered offensive, so far as I know, even the ones that receive TD's. I actually received a very nice e-mail from Jennifer yesterday regarding the contractor who said he was willing to donate his time and work to the woman who got taken in by TriState Roofing. I had sent a note to webstaff@katu.com giving them a heads-up about that. Now, every comment I make on KATU's forums is immediately deleted. Are they looking at the stuff I posted here and making decisions based on that? Are others (and there are 3 nyms in my last 5 visitors I've never seen before) complaining about what's in my Intense Debate list of posts?

I sent Jennifer a note just a bit ago asking her if I've been banned and if so to please provide an explanation/justification so I'll know what not to do in the future. Doubt I'll see any response until Tuesday at the earliest. Damn!

Put him in a 4x8, two bunk cell, no TV, no books, no newspapers, one phone call per month with a 3-minute timer. Either that or a pile of boulders and a sledge hammer. What do you think his choice would be?
