I am not saying that people that oppose Obama are racist. He isn't doing a good job. I'm talking about the comments calling Mrs.Obama a \"gorilla,\"\"baboon,\" \"sheboon,\" etc.Perhaps she isn't the most attractive woman in the world, but this is simply uncalled for and yes, it is racist.

By the way, I am a college graduate, gainfully employed, and I don't ask or blame anybody for a damn thing.

From: notifications@intensedebatemail.com
To: mstulin@hotmail.com
Subject: olderandwiser1 replied to your comment on Mrs. Obama: Don\\'t lose faith in president\\'s vision
I agree, VirgilnDante, and I am giving you a thumbs up! There are decent, hard-working, non-violent and moderate Muslims who love this country -- I've met them. They really hate bin-Laden and the way the other extremists have given them a bad name. One of my daughter's friends is a Muslim and she's known him for fifteen years. He and his family are very nice people. As for gays and lesbians -- ever hear of hating the sin and loving the sinner? Do you think Jesus would hate gay people or Muslims?

Thanks Irish, I agree with you 100 percent. Just because something is part of someone's "culture" doesn't make it right. Female genital mutilation has been part of some cultures for centuries, does that mean it's okay? When I was in Spain a few years back (which, BTW, is a beautiful country) my husband wanted to go to a bullfight and I said "no." I don't want to see ANY living thing tortured like that. You don't have to be a PETA member to have compassion. And no, I never eat meat!

Hmm . . . I'm not a big fan of Sarah Palin -- she seems like an opportunist and I don't like the way she quit as governor of Alaska -- but I can't understand why some people just hate her so much. It's totally bizarre!

Funny, McGinnis sounds like an Irish or Scottish name to me. But you're right -- it's those Jews again -- they also are responsible for the BP leak and taking "Law and Order" off the air! Just wondering -- do you realize Jesus Christ was a Jew?

I'm not a big fan of Sarah Palin -- at least at this point, I don't think she's ready to be president, but enough is enough. Why all the fuss about someone who is not even running for elected office? I'm shocked at all of the hatred directed at this woman. I don't like Obama, but I don't hate him, and I think that politicians' families should be strictly off limits. LEAVE SARAH AND HER FAMILY ALONE!

Well -- you have the right to patronize any business you please, just as women have the right to wear that nonsense if they so choose. But sometimes this obsession with "modesty" is ridiculous. I remember when I was in college there was a woman who dressed all in black, with just her eyes showing. She even wore black leather gloves, and Philly gets HOT. Anyway, we were having an end-of-year party and she refused to eat because she didn't want to take off her veil. She only agreed to take it off and eat after we had closed the door and locked it. Even then she was very hesitant and nervours. I felt like asking her if a man saw her face, what would have happened? Would she have turned to stone? I try to respect people's beliefs, but I believe that God is more concerned with what's in our hearts rather than what we wear!

Most of the women I see all dressed in black, with their faces covered, are black American women who have converted to Islam. To me this is ridiculous, because black people have a very low status in Muslim countries. Muhammad even had a black slave. In Egypt, when the black American actor Louis Gosset played Amwar Sadat (who was dark-skinned), Egyptians protested because they did not want a black man playing their leader. If you look at the elite in these countries, they are usually light skinned. Yet black American Muslims ignore things like this, and say nothing about how their Muslim brothers are slaughtering black Christians in the Sudan. Saudi Arabia just abolished slavery in 1969! Some Muslim countries still have slaves. Many black Muslims describe Christianity as a "white man's religion." Yes, this country has had some serious racial divisions, and still does, but I know of no Christian country that still has slavery!

I believe in having compassion, but these leftwing Christians DO twist the scriptures. I once heard Jesse Jackson say that Mary and Joseph were a homeless couple. Also, a very liberal church in my area said that since Jesus stopped the mob from stoning the woman caught in adultery, he respected women's sexual choices, therefore Christians should support unlimited abortion.____Uh, no.

Big Journalism : In Living Color: The Major Networks' War On the Tea Party

There was a tea party rally across from my workplace. I was curious, so I went over to observe. The crowd consisted of conservatively-dressed people of different ages carrying anti-Obama and anti-tax signs. I saw a few Asians and black people, but the crowd was overwhelmingly white. I am African American and I expected to see people in pointy Klan hats, but the crowd was orderly, if a bit boisterous at times.____I'm not sure I agree with the tea partiers, but I didn't find them offensive or threatening. In this country, we have freedom of speech and the freedom to (peacefully) assemble -- and that means for everyone, not just people we agree with.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Mother furious after in-school clinic sets up daughter\'s abortion | KOMO News - Breaking News, Spor

Well, first of all I am a 'flag-waving anti abortionist' as well as a social worker. I see children in dire situations every day. My goal is to HELP them improve their situation, even if these means taking them out of the home. There are solutions to physical and mental abuse, but abortion is forever. Not long ago a colleague and mine were called to a local hospital after a mother had abandoned her. baby. We were able to place this precious baby in a loving home. And no, this wasn't a "healthy white baby" she was a beautiful African American girl. Oh yeah, I also adopted one of those "unwanted" babies, who is 19 now. It sounds like you mean well, but did you ever ask anyone of these children if they wish they had been aborted? I would be willing to bet that the answer would be NO.
