I'm not concerned about this. Thomas and Hobbs seemed to have legit family issues. Mac seems to be on the right track getting players to focus and invest. I already bet the over. If it doesn't pan out, that's ok. I'll still have a great time with my season tickets, tailgating with friends and just enjoying game days. I don't understand all the negativism. If you dont like the Buffs, what in the world are you doing wasting your time on these articles? GO BUFFS!

Daily Camera.com: : Ringo: CU Buffs need to look at Mike MacIntyre - Boulder Daily Camera

Good article, Ringo. I am actually glad Jones begged out. We need a coach that wants to be at Colorado. Also, although I am not averse to MacIntyre, I would like CU to at least interview a few coordinators, like Wilcox at Washington and Mason at Stanford, before they just get enamored with one guy again. I know they will not, because Bohn said they are only looking at people with head coaching experience, but to me, that is just another mistake they have made during this process. Let's hope they get lucky. GO BUFFS!

Daily Camera.com: : Football: CU Buffs fire Jon Embree - Boulder Daily Camera

I'm torn on this one and wish Embo all the luck. He's a great Buff. At the same time, the cake is baked, so who has any thoughts on who the Buffs should interview and/or hire? The D Post had an article mentioning several names, including Troy Calhoun. Of those mentioned, I tend to lean toward the Defensive Coordinators that can find a way to thwart the spread offenses. So, maybe Derek Mason (DC at Stanford) or Justin Wilcox (DC at Washington)? Either of them would definitely have to hire an innovative Offensive Coordinator that can take advantage of the altitude advantage...

I understand your logic, Buff59, but I am really on the fence about this. The problem for Embree is that the team was getting shelled every single game this year, and I honestly do not believe that the talent cupboard is bear right now. Mac's 1-10 team lost some whoppers, too, but they generally seemed to fight like crazy and they seemed to have much less talent than this year's Embree team. I love Embree as a player and a Buff, but he was instilling me with no confidence, at all, as a coach.

Daily Camera.com: : Robert Soderland: Folsom Field expansion at CU is a waste of money - Boulder Daily Camera

So, I am not quite understanding what this guy is trying to say. He says CU should not be building the new $100 million dollar and should instead "opt to build its academic quality by a variety of direct means like funding professors, programs and top student recruiting", however, he does not say where that money would come from. Let me help. He must think one of a few variations on these themes: 1) He thinks he people who are going to pony up the money for a new stadium will instead give it to other programs? As stated above, that is probably a false assumption. 2) He thinks that CU should take a portion of the student fees now used to partially fund the athletic program and just co-opt it for the purposes he would like? I am guessing that is neither viable nor legal. 3) He would like to grab some of the money coming from the additional television revenue for football and use it for his purposes. Well, that's nice but would not work for very long. The less CU puts back into its football program, the less likely it is to be successful. The less the successful, the lower the attendance and the lower the alumni giving for athletics/football. If your bottom line is to diminish the football team in some way, too bad. Those of us who give, buys seats, etc, do not care what you want. If your bottom line is to get more into the academics side of the house, well, either pony up yourself or help them raise some money. As an alum, I already give to other programs within CU. I would give a lot more if they were better at fundraising. The football team (and some other athletics) offer a fun product and a chance to keep in touch with our fellow alumni. I would be floored if I ever received anything from Colorado other than a canned letter asking for donations. How about having some speakers in and have an alumni cocktail hour or something else fun out of one of the departments? Maybe it already happens, but I never ever hear of it. Instead, I have to listen to people whine and bellyache about the football program and how much more money it gets than (fill in pet program). There is plenty of money out there. Get off your rear and go after it in a positive way.

Ha ha. Neuheisel saying CU was the only Pac 12 South team that doesn't have a chance to win the South has given me more hope than anything else I have read this year. The Weasel is pretty smart, but he has had a Karmic Jinx over his head since he bolted from the Buffs back in the 90s. Colorado might just pull out a decent season now. Thanks, Weasel!

Has anybody watched a replay of the game and seen who on our O line is breaking down. Is it a couple of guys? All of them? I wasn;t really focusing on the line during the game and did not dvr it. Six sacks is just too many. They really have to figure out their assignments and cut out the mental errors. Already looking forward to the game this week, though definitely nervous for the team. Stating the obvious, but UCLA is a lot better than WSU. GO BUFFS!

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Football: Bruins bring familiar name to Boulder - Buffzone

Good questions. I will definitely feel let down if the Buffs lose this Saturday; I do with every loss regardless of the quality of the team CU is playing. However, if they can 1) play with the fight and purpose they did at WSU, and 2) keep within, say, 10 in the 4th quarter with at least a chance for an upset, I will feel let down but optimistic. In order to have a chance at beating ucla, they are going to need both the ground game and pass game working, and the D will probably need a couple more turnovers. Brown will probably have the baby d-backs giving up a big cushion to the ucla receivers again this week, don't you think? I wish they could generate more pass rush and send more than two or three linemen to put heat on Hundley, but I am not sure our d-backs are up to the coverage challenge yet.

I forgot to add: Come on, Coach Brown, keep that baby Stampede D on the smelling salts, get 'em three steps closer in the Wright direction, and give that ucla QB a Major headache!
I have always said I have no problem with people jumping on the band wagon, the more the merrier. However, if they are going to jump off, just do it quietly! There are a bunch of us, including many that post here, that Embo will never have to worry about attending the games. We may not always be happy about the play (see last week), but we always show up...rain or shine...good teams or bad. Realistically, expectations haven't really been raised for the team this year by this one win, but it sure feels good! GO BUFFS!

Man, that was a gut check win for the Buffs. Loved watching a game when the Buffs actually rallied late and showed such heart. Loved even more watching a CU team that finally played with fire and emotion! It has been seven or more years since we have seen that. Stay on the field, Bieniemy! Well done, Embo/EB and the rest of the coaches and players! By the way, if the Buffs play with that sort of intensity for the rest of the year, it will be awfully hard for us fans to criticize them even if they lose. Effort goes a long way...and I suspect it will translate to some more wins even given the mistakes and youth.

The top reasons I did not like Hawkins: 1) Uninspired play by his players, 2) innumerable mental mistakes by his players, 3) played the guys who were good practicers over guys with talent. Though I was unsure (like many people) that Embree was the best coach for the job, I was reasonably certain that he would put his best talent on the field and that they would be well-drilled and play with passion. He has not shown me any of this. It's really sad.

Yes, Jon, Webb was at least part of the problem. Anemic production like that against a team that New Mexico blistered when you have a back breaking out for 147 yards? Only 7 points in the second half? Yes, QB was an issue. Start your talent. Go with Wood. He could have two games under his belt by now and be getting ready to take on PAC opponents. Nothing against Webb. Wood has more talent,

OK. I am going to crawl way, way out on a teeny, tiny limb here and predict a Buffalo victory this week at Fresno State*. Why not. It's late, I'm having a nice, Irish Whiskey (Tully) before bed, and I am feeling strangely optimistic. *Prediction assumes Connor Wood gets into the game by the late first/early second quarter and the Buffs have managed to stay within a touchdown. Big assumptions, I know.

Those of us who are hard core will never give up on the Buffs, but you have to play your talent, Embo. Start Connor Wood. Gary Kubiak was great in practice, too, but Elway played the games for a reason. Nothing against Webb. He's a gritty QB and may make a really good coordinator or something some day, but the Buffs need Connor to play and play well if they are going to have any chance of turning this season around.

Bottom line - defense overall was ok (except a few bad breakdowns) considering all of the freshmen playing, and the offense was horrible. Bottom line reason for the O being horrible appears to have been the bad, uninspired O line play, but I cannot help feeling that we would have seen a completely different game if Embo/EB would have started Wood and either Ford or Creer at tailback (with Jones coming on for a change of pace and/or third down passing situations). Sorry, but Webb is the sort of QB that can manage a good team to some wins, but he will not win you any games. Likewise, if you want your identity to be a team that can run the ball down your throat, you need a decent sized back (or at least one that runs downhill). I just don't get the choices there. I really don't. Who cares if they "know the playbook". Play the talent, EMBO! Give them the chance to make great plays, not just avoid making bad plays! COME ON!!!
