I don't think I was ever a very "judgy" mom, but I was definitely a "defensive" mom. Maybe because I'm the non-breastfeeding, disposable diaper-using, CIOing, you're-not-sleepin-in-MY-bed kind of mom so I tend to fall into a lot of categories that get judged these days and was very insecure about that. And while I haven't had a ton of judgmental things said straight to my face, I've always kind of felt that I was getting some snide remarks when my back was turned. So I felt the need to explain my decisions a lot. I think as Ryan gets older, I become more confident in my abilities as a mom and more secure in my decisions. Now? I care much less about what anyone other than my husband and my son think about my parenting. I explain myself much less. Instead of "well, we tried cloth diapers for 3 days and it was such a disaster and blah blah blah...", now I say "we use disposables." Because whether or not I tried cloth before switching is irrelevant in relation to the effort I put into my attempts to raise a kind, caring, thoughtful, polite young man.

And I don't judge you for judging. We all judge others at some point in our life... it's sort of human nature, I think, and I am absolutely guilty of it. The more important thing is to keep learning and growing, which you're doing - you're setting a great example for your girls.

These are all so cute! I'm totally going to make one of those handprint cards for Ryan to give his Daddy. Thank you for the ideas!

That sticker book is genius. I just bought one for Ryan for the plane ride when we move next month. I bet that thing will buy us a full half hour of peace. Thanks for the rec!

A huge thank you to your hubby for all that he does - and to you, for supporting him and giving him the strength to keep doing it.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. So glad you're feeling better. You go stick those princesses in the fridge for as long as you need to. ;)

Major sympathy here. We have the same issues in our house. The thing that is currently infuriating to me is when he asks for more of something, I get it for him, he looks at it for a minute and then says "I no wannit. I all done." Kiiiiiid, I just cooked you another waffle, you better EAT IT.
