Ummm... one "0" off Gramps. A "paltry" 2% return is still a cool $2,000,000 per year. I think they can afford that house now.

Can someone please name the last time a Republican won a close race in Washington state? It doesn't happen. Granted, the judicial race is non-partisan, but the judges' 'leanings' are very clear.

Finland suicide rate = 18.8 per 100,000 people per year
America = 11.1
On average Scandinavia has a higher rate, but maybe that's acceptable for you given "this overcrowded planet"

If you expect me to keep my "propoganda" to myself, given this is a DISCUSSION board, why don't you keep your "down with America" propoganda to yourself as well. We'll see who's "full of it" when we are in our socialist descent.

I did "trade places" for a couple of years when I lived in Northern Europe (Scandinavia), and I have a minor in Northern European Studies. Alchoholism, depression, high suicide rates, unemployment, low birth rates, >50% taxation, neverending welfare, and "equalization" are NOT what I consider a high "quality of life". Their "standard of living" may be considered higher, but I'd argue their "quality of life" is not.

When I came back to the states, I entered the Dallas airport and saw the sign "Welcome to the United States of America", and I cried from sheer gratitude.

Everyone should go live somewhere else for while, and not just as a tourist, and then come back here and complain about this "sorry mess".

The American Dream is only alive if we don't let it die, my fellow American "pal".

What a ridiculous argument...
What is the economic growth rate of the "Social Democracies of Northern Europe"? ZERO, NONE, NA(DA)!
What do we have to look forward to if we stay on the same path of the "Social Democracies of Northern Europe"? ZERO, NONE, NA(DA)!

Tthose 4 countries were not burned because they invested in US securities. Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy would be fine if they'd have considered austerity before they were forced into it. The same thing will happen to us if we don't REVERSE course and kick out the socialist aspects of our government in FAVOR of (regulated) capitalism. Pretty soon we will ALL be (lower) middle class - and goodbye to the American dream.

So let me get this right... Sanders wrote the lead opinion RAISING the amounts the govt (read: You and Me) could be fined for delaying giving up documents. Then he attempted to use THAT judgement to try to pay himself in the lawsuit HE filed to AGAINST the court because they basically issued him a warning for acting stupidly? I haven't followed his career at all, so I can't draw firm conclusions, but this doesn't lead me to put the checkmark by HIS name when we have elections...

I wouldn't expect police to do hand to hand combat with a crazed, lunatic drunk regardless of how many of the police there are and regardless of the size disparity. You never know what razor blade they have hidden in their pocket, or what shiv they are going to pull out of a boot. The police are here to keep the peace, not engage in fist fights. It's a pretty simple concept - don't confront a police officer unless you are prepared to get shot. We have courts to deal with the fairness of it all after the fact.

NO one is going to be stupid enough to buy stock in GM when that equity will be simply wiped out and worthless with the next "restructuring" of the company - and ownership turned over to the unions. What a joke.
