Originally, the Shout was me talking to no one, but then a wonderful thing happened: someone responded! Gary kept me sane and kept me from feeling like I was just talking to myself. I know I would've given up without Gary.
A lot of times when we lose someone we'll get sentimental and make what the person did sound much more extravagant or important, but it's the truth with Gary. Dolphin Shout would've been something that fizzled out very quickly if he didn't come around. He built and nurtured this community. I just wrote the articles. He really got to know everyone and remembered every one of you guys. We'd talk on the phone and he'd ask if I saw what so-and-so said. He never missed a comment. He welcomed every new person that ever commented and always encouraged a positive environment. He knew twice as much as I did about what was going on at all times in the comments.
Gary was awesome. I think you guys understand how much we enjoyed having him around. Dolphin Shout is a tribute to him. It's a product of his love for the Dolphins and his passion for creating a community where everyone is welcome and encouraged to share their minds.

I'm also sorry to everyone for not being more active. The passion to write isn't there like it used to be for me. If anyone here knows someone who would be able to take over the site (and take good care of it) I'd love to hand it over. I'll trust that any recommendations brought to me will be people who would help bring Dolphin Shout to new heights.
The Shout could use a fresh pair of eyes and some new enthusiasm on the part of its designer. Kenny has been doing an amazing job of keeping this place running and I want to bring in someone who can help him. Patrick's been fulfilling a dream of his to write novels, and I can only imagine how much time that takes.
If anyone has any recommendations email them to me at paul.smythe@yahoo.com. That's the email I check the most and I can respond very rapidly.
Thanks again to all of you. You guys are all amazing and it's wonderful to see everyone still here rooting for our Dolphins.
