Principles: 1.America is good and patriotism is encouraged. 2.We believe in God. 3.We value honesty and integrity, and try to be more honest each day. 4.The government doesn’t decide what’s best for our family, mom and dad decide. 5.Rules and laws are important. Anybody who breaks them deserves consequences. 6.We have the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but rewards in our lives are the results of our own efforts. 7.We believe in charitable giving and public service, but only by our own choice, not forced by government. 8.Part of being a good American is to speak up when I disagree and to respectfully explain why I disagree. 9.The American government works for the people, not the other way around.

Parents, here is something simple you can do - get more involved in your children's education. One way to do this is to build a relationship with their teachers. You can do this by sending a letter similar to that below and then following through with what it says. Please note that I modified the nine principles to better fit the parent/teacher relationship. "Speak up, make a difference." I am probably misquoting Glenn, but he is constantly urging all of us to do so. I have a suggestion on how you can do just that. Consider applying for career government positions. There are many, many jobs available at usajobs.gov, looking for almost every skill you can imagine. Now, imagine yourself in such a job where you can live the 9 principals and 12 values each day in your job, within the government. Imagine hundreds or thousands of people doing the same.

Elliott, people who disagree with you are not insane, in fact they are the people you should reach out to, which will help you make up your own mind about issues. Don't just listen to those who agree with you while writing off those who disagree. I for one would welcome your thoughts on why you feel the way you do about socialism. Try to convince me! That will give us all a healthy topic of discussion and debate rather than leading to a bunch of back and forth bashing. Such bashing doesn't help at all, it just wastes the time of people who are motivated to activism. Trolling is what I suspect here, there are folks out there who will say such things as Elliott said here with the express intent of causing unproductive chatter, thereby slowing you down. Don't take the bait! Look for reasoned arguments and respond to those. Otherwise, give the trolls a thumbs down and move on.

We need the House of Representatives to be returned to what it was intended to be. The People's House. The following would help: A law forbidding any funds from PACs, lobbyists, or any special interest groups being contributed to representatives or used in helping to get them elected. Use only public funding, a small amount, to fund a limited number of candidates, selected at the ballot box. At the primaries, the top few who get the most votes get public funding. This will base their success at getting on the ballot on their own personal efforts. Those top few then get a little assistance, and the winner gets a term-limited seat.

Reach out to your *career* government employees, they know where federal money is wasted and where it would help. They don't get asked this. They are told where to spend money and are often not listened to when told that it would be a waste. There are often politically motivated projects meant to trumpet "success" which are just shells that provide little value. Many career employees are mission focused and frustrated at having to do work and spend money wastefully.
