The art/music posts are fun, but I do wonder if they're taking you away from writing. Maybe that's a needed break, rather than a distraction. Besides the people who know you, your visitors will include people who've read your writing and want to know more about you, so stuff about you and your life is good. You seem to have a pretty good balance so far.

Another thought - rather than a cumulative total, you could have a daily wordcount goal. That way if you miss a day it doesn't get hard to make up. Just resets to 3k or whatever the goal is. And then your total wordcount goal by x date.

Agree with the positive goal thing. I prefer carrots to sticks myself. For a while the OWN had a Beautiful Trophy Challenge going. At the start of the quarter, those who wanted to participate made a pledge to finish a novel by the end of the quarter (could already be started) and mail it out in order to qualify for a trophy.
