<description>Even if the guy decided to keep those bonds, he couldn&amp;#039;t cash them.  It&amp;#039;s not like you can go to your local bank and cash them because they are so old, one would have to contact their local Department of Treasury and go through the process of filling out forms etc., and proof that you are the rightful heir.  This guy did the right thing and should feel good about it!  The &amp;quot;rightful heir&amp;quot; may have to reopen the estate who&amp;#039;s bonds they were originally issued to and possibly have to reopen other estates thereafter, depending on his state&amp;#039;s estate laws. Either way, this guy has to go through alot of paperwork in order to cash those bonds, which btw are no longer earning interest.  I hope this guy gets in touch with a good estate and/or tax attorney to help him. </description>
