Hey, he is chipping away at the problems one-by-one... This one is a big one... The padded pensions in one Borough of NYC is close to the equivalent for the entire cost of NYS welfare benefits... for the whole state...

WIVB.com : New York misses out on education grants | WIVB.com

I keep seeing all these posts stating that all of the politicians need to be replaced. While I agree, I do have to state the fact that, no matter what we all try to do, nothing is really going to change... When we get to the polls, we are able to select between one set of politicians who will screw us over in one direction, or the other set, who will just screw us all over in another direction... They are all corrupt, and have to answer to whatever special interests funded their campaigns... However, I will continue to vote against the liberals (Democrats), because that is the only way that there is any hope of avoiding our country being changed from the U.S.A. into the U.S.S.A. The political process has been corrupted beyond repair, and we will continue to see declines in our quality of life, and increases in the taxes we pay to ensure this decay, until the people decide they are angry enough to 'clean house' like was done in 1776... Until then, nothing changes... Guaranteed!

WIVB.com : Calls for Paterson to resign get louder | WIVB.com

He was trying to do something to help the state, but he was going the wrong direction... It used to be that the largest group of union supported employees was blue collar... Now it's government employees. Once those unions are broken, and lazy public employees have to pay for their own retirement benefits, our state's financial situation will get better. I'm a Republican, but if Patterson would have tried to break the public service unions,I would have supported him 100%. They are the biggest drain on our states economy, no doubt about it... The ignorant and un-intelligent can continue to bag on the welfare system, but if they want to seem like they are better than idiots, they will recognize that public service unions are the real problem... Let's fix the states problems and bring public employees down to equal their private sector equivalents... Until these changes are made, our state's economy will continue to suffer, and every one of us will see higher taxes every year... Don't be stupid... break the unions...

If he ever gets stopped for a speeding ticket, this bogus felony will pop up at the top of the list, even if the Grand Jury laughs the prosecutor out of the room.
Evidently we have heard from the Kruse family, here! Next time, have the courage to tell us who you are... There is no way you CANNOT blame the parents! At least that is what the law says: Your children aren't old enough to make rational decisions about alcohol (obviously) and you decided to leave them home by themselves... If one of the teens at your house would have driven drunk and killed someone, you would also be liable for all of that. All you need to do is look at a few news articles to see that... You ARE responsible for what happens at YOUR house, whether you are there or not when it comes to underage drinking! That's what the law says! Now, you just need to experience that for yourselves! I hope they throw the book at you for every possible charge they can level at you, including Extortion charges for trying to extort money from the boy's mother by using a threat! YOU blew it, and YOU need to face the heat! Everyone with a bit of common sense needs to show up at the arraignment hearing for the boy and protest it!

Somebody really needs to do some proof-reading at this website... The medications mentioned are "Oxycontin" and "Lortab". Also an 'heroine' is a female that acts heroically, the narcotic drug is 'heroin'. And, "Scot", there is no law that requires doctors to drug-test their patients. That would be a clear violation of the right to privacy that is guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States... New York State does have a database of narcotic medication prescriptions that helps reduce the chances of people getting narcotic prescriptions from multiple doctors. However, it isn't a perfect system, but it's something...

Byron is in the middle of nowhere in Genesee county. I would guess the it has a population somewhere near one or two thousand people. I wonder how many of them would be willing to pay for a train ticket to get to Riga... Riga isn't much bigger, and there isn't anything there... This rail line is supposed to cost 85 million dollars... After that money is spent, Amtrack might be able to sell 20 tickets per year... I can't imagine what they are thinking in regards to this thing...

What idiots decided that BYRON was a good starting place?!? If the "Test" has to count the number of passenger that will use it, starting it in byron will guarantee it's failure... Start it in Batavia where they will have at least SOME passengers who will find it useful... If I have to drive from Batavia to Byron in order to get to Riga (another nowhere), I won't be stopping, I'll just go the 11 miles in my car...
I absolutely agree with this! We ALL know how these types of things happen, and would like it very much if the channel 4 investigative reporters would get the truth out in the open here. We all have a list of questions that we would like answers to, and if channel 4 isn't in someone's pocket, we would like to get the facts here: 1- Who are the parents of the girls? 2- What is the political connection (or connections) that they are exploiting in this case? 3- Why are these parents not being charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors, condoning the use of alcohol by minors, perjury, filing false police reports, and a whole slew of other charges? (Well, we already know the answer to this. We just want to see these charges filed...) 4- Why are the girls not being charged with filing a false police report? (Again, we know, but want action.) What recourse does this boy have that will compensate him for the misery of being locked up on B.S. charges? I'm sure there are more, but we would like you to start with these... Lets start getting those who think they are above the law to realize that they aren't. News 4, we are counting on you to get the ball rolling... Are you up to it? We shall see...

I'm telling you... The "parents" here are connected with the sherriff's office, D.A.'s office, or some politician, and this whole thing is an attempt to keep these sorry excuses for parents from being charged...
Once the complainant is identified, we will all see that this is just a B.S. distraction to take the blame away from some politically connected family, in which the parents made the poor choice of leaving their teenage children home when they were out of town. Anyone but an idiot knows what happened here: The girls had a big party with alcohol involved. The scratched floor is one of those "teenage alcohol party" things that just happens. This whole thing is simply a way to divert the truth, and have the parents avoid being charged with many things due to their poor judgment. If anyone thinks this was just two couples at the home on Valentines Day, I have some PRIME beach-front property to sell you in Henderson, Nevada! E-mail me, and I'll let you know where to mail the check!

What... You don't like the Constitution of the United States? Let me ask you which particular rights YOU would be willing to give up? Right to privacy? Right to due process? Like it or not, EVERYONE is to be presumed innocent until being proven guilty in a court of law. The concept of 'bail' allows people who have been charged with crimes to be able to continue to provide for their families, and for the guilty, to get their affairs in order before they get sentenced. There are consequences, they just don't happen to be immediate! If that is what you want, then you need to find yourself a nice little Communist or Socialist country to move to...

I'm not bagging on the firefighters... The problem we have in this country is very simply the fact that every single municipality is in varying stages of going bankrupt because most of the tax money they collect goes to fulfilling union contracts with ALL public employees... This story just happened to be about firefighters. The point of my comments would be the same if the story was about CSEA clerks at the Community College crying about not having their entitlement filled contract... Nothing more, nothing less...

I am an RN... I don't push papers, I save lives. (Often while risking my own.) I have also spent several years as a volunteer firefighter, so don't presume to tell me I cannot take the heat! If you have any doubts as to the content of the contracts that these firefighters work under, all you need to do is look at them. Are you aware that when a contract expires without a new one being agreed to, it means very simply that the terms of the old one just continue? They have a good family health insurance plan, and what they actually contribute is a pittance. Like $50.00 a month or something for a policy I pay $750.00 a month for... The percentage that they choose to add to their pension is completely voluntary. If they don't contribute a DIME, they still end up with several thousand dollars per month for the rest of their lives. They are covered by life insurance by whatever municipality they work for. Again, they don't have to contribute to it. It isn't much ($25K +/-), but it's enough for a halfway decent burial... Above and beyond, they can get their own policy. (Nurses are also considered high-risk by these life insurance carriers, BTW) Don't presume to tell us what these people deserve. Civil servants at all levels have been breaking the back of this nation and every division of it for decades through union contracts.
