Big Hollywood : SUCKER PUNCH SQUAD: Villain in Will Ferrell's 'The Other Guys' Is Friends With....Dick Cheney!

And that's exactly the point. I admit to being a fan of Elf and also enjoyed Blades of Glory. But the left wing shtick gets tiresome. If Hollywoodists were more even-handed in their little "gotchas," we here at BH could hardly complain. But it's quite obvious from some of the dreck coming out of the studios that they hold "red staters," "conservatives," "wing nuts," "bitter clingers" - whatever the name du jour is - in the highest contempt and think nothing of trashing their values onscreen, leaving it to the viewer to discover it only AFTER they've spent their hard-earned cash on a night out. To expand on a point read elsewhere: As for the fact that bankers are targeted, I offer that crooked financiers are a problem. But they are ALWAYS portrayed as conservatives. Will George Soros, who has toppled the economies of more than one nation, be parodied in the near future? Somehow I doubt it because he is a big funder of leftwing causes. And lest we forget, some of these banks were actually told "take TARP funds or else" by the feds.http://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2009/may/judici... I should have mentioned that in the article. Wonder what the brains behind this film think about that?

Big Hollywood : Top 5: True-Crime Reality Shows

I agree with Forensic Files being at the top of the heap. I watch it regularly. But some other good ones that should be added to the list are "The Real NCIS," "Forensics: You Decide" and "Solved," all on Investigation Discovery. I also like "Wicked Attraction," but that's not so much about the crime solving as the crime spree.

Big Hollywood : The Lambert Files: Middle America Once Again Proves Its Inability to Be Hip

Do you mean this Janet Jackson classy moment back in September 2008? http://www.theinsider.com/news/1202272_Janet_Jack... I couldn't complain about on Big Hollywood it because Big Hollywood didn't exist back then. But for the record, I think it's rude and crude no matter who does it. And another point is that it didn't happen on an awards show broadcast during prime time on a national (non-cable) network, where anyone - including young children - could be watching. See? I was right. By criticizing the incident, I am automatically branded a homophobe. Ah well. Seems some folks will never be happy until there are no boundaries anywhere and we all just do as we please...

Big Hollywood : 'Blind Side' Director 'Regrets' Bush-Bashing Joke

John Lee Hancock: After completing the movie and playing it for an audience I realized it was, for some, more of a laugh, and a cheap one to boot. I do regret not coming up with something more clever. Decoder ring: My friends and I still think it's funny, but as I've been called on it by a few angry conservatives, I'll close the door after the horse is out of the barn by giving a "heartfelt" apology to those who might have been offended...

Big Hollywood : A Clue for Megan Fox: Trashing Your Audience is a Bad Idea

She complained in the first linked interview that other women call her a slut. I was just pointing out - in a tongue in cheek manner - that if that's true, she shouldn't worry about it based on her own views on how being a merchandised "sex symbol" product in Hollywood is not degrading but empowering.

Big Hollywood : Guardian: Pretentious Moi? -- Suffering With 'Actor-Speak'

I have been involved in a local community theater for over a decade. I have acted in a number of plays, and directed my first show this year. Believe me when I say that acting is just learning lines and pretending to be someone else. It is helpful at times to be given a point of direction, your "motivation," but it all boils down to being able to put yourself in someone else's skin. Some people are better at it than others, and some people just flat out cannot act. There is a place for actors, directors, and other entertainers in our society as they provide a release valve from the humdrum of everyday life. That said, these days too much importance is placed upon a group of people who, even just a century ago, were not much higher than prostitutes in the social pecking order. People of "good family" did not enter the acting (or musical) profession, nor did they consider having respectable relationships with these people. Not saying we should go back to that, but do take into consideration that the "stars" of today are just very lucky to have clawed their way to the top of the heap and make lots of money by, as Brad Pitt said, putting on makeup and pretending. Not exactly the types I look to for guidance in important issues like national security, etc.

What I also find annoying is the growing popularity of people saying "myself" instead of just "me" or "I," as though they are trying to inflate their own self-importance in conversation: "Jason and myself went down to the corner store to pick up a bag of Doritos."

A friend of mine has lived in London for nearly 20 years. While he has not picked up an actual English accent, his speech now incorporates the local cadence and rhythm. This is much different than Madonna's super-fake-o "accent," which is annoying in the extreme. I once heard that if you moved to a different country before the age of 14, you would not have a "foreign accent" when speaking that language. After 14, forget it - unless you receive professional coaching to rid yourself of whatever accent you have.

Big Hollywood : Natalie Portman Finds Recession 'An Exciting Time'

Yes, it's sooooo exciting when people are losing their jobs and don't have a cushion of millions to fall back on like Ms. Portman. I'm absolutely giddy at the prospect of all those people who, because they are no longer gainfully employed, can follow their "passions." I'd like to see her voice the same sentiments were she to suddenly find herself penniless with no job prospects.
