not a chance, proxywar Closing Gitmo, and releasing Gitmo detainees into the US, or Bermuda ... does that sound even remotely like Bush? Get a grip, GWB got a lot wrong, but still was a LOT CLOSER to understanding the threat than Obambi.

http://www.cross-currents.com/archives/2008/10/30... October 30, 2008 Who Says Jews are Smart? Filed by Jonathan Rosenblum @ 5:37 am continued ...... The greatest threat to Israel’s existence is a nuclear Iran. By calling for direct American-Iranian negotiations, without offering anything new to the Europeans’ approach over the last five years of unconditional negotiations, Obama only grants Ahmadinejad more time and increased internal legitimacy. And by linking any sanctions to Chinese and Russian cooperation, he dooms those efforts from the start. Bottom line: an Obama presidency guarantees a nuclear Iran. And all this leaves aside dozens of troubling Obama associations. For twenty years, he sat complacently in the church of a pastor – “my spiritual mentor” – who spewed contempt for whites, America, and Israel. Virtually his whole public career has been closely intertwined with the unrepentant former Weatherman William Ayers. Another member of Ayers’ Hyde Park circle was former PLO official and the current Edward Said Professor at Columbia University, Rashid Khalidi, whom Obama credits with opening his eyes to the plight of Palestinians. He has been heavily funded by the virulently anti-Israel George Soros. Obama has numerous ties to the Nation of Islam, in particular through Tony Rezko, the convicted, Syrian-born racketeer, who partly paid for Obama’s home. Obama’s foreign policy advisors have included: Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor and thirty-year critic of Israel; Samantha Powers, who has called for an end to aid to Israel and the introduction of American forces to protect the Palestinians; and Robert Malley, who has made a career of advancing, together with a former Arafat advisor, a revisionist account in which Israel was responsible for the breakdown of Camp David. Even the Republicans touted for an Obama cabinet – Chuck Hagel and Richard Lugar – have been among the handful of senators, sometimes the only ones, to consistently oppose sanctions against Iran, Syria, and Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Hagel laments the intimidation on Capitol Hill by the “Jewish lobby.” No doubt the “pro-Israel” Obama supporters have good explanations of why none of these relationships are of concern. After all, why did G-d make Jews so smart if not to prove the emperor is fully-clothed. This article appeared in the Mishpacha, 29 October, 2008.

That is the "face of the New DemocRATS" , and to my amazement most Jewish Americans voted for the O? posted by leevy leevy, I guess you haven't seen this prophetic article, written last October: http://www.cross-currents.com/archives/2008/10/30... October 30, 2008 Who Says Jews are Smart? Filed by Jonathan Rosenblum @ 5:37 am YES, POGO, THE JEWS ARE THE STUPIDEST PEOPLE Arab-Americans overwhelmingly support Senator Barack Obama for president. So do Jewish-Americans. One of these two groups either does not care much about the Arab-Israeli conflict and/or is stupid. My money is on the Jews. American Jews care less and less about Israel. Over 50% of non-Orthodox Jews under 35 say they would not view the destruction of the State of Israel as a personal tragedy. Israel is not a popular cause on college campuses. Many Jewish students struggle against being identified with Israel, lest it complicate their social lives. In the under 35 cohort, only 54% profess to be comfortable with the idea of a Jewish state. Other Jews who still find it uncomfortable to disavow concern with Israel have convinced nevertheless themselves that it is in Israel’s best interests to be forced back to the 1949 armistice lines. A talkback to a recent Jerusalem Post piece of mine nicely captures the mindset. Nathan Berkowicz writes: “What do you expect us Jews to do, hold the Palestinians hostage forever? Get your head out of the sand and wake up to the fact that we are going to have to hammer out a peace deal, a real peace deal, if for no other reason but to show ourselves that we are willing to humanely and fairly deal with a problem we created for ourselves.” Berkowicz places the exclusive onus on Israel for the creation of the Palestinian problem – either by virtue of its creation or for having the effrontery to win in 1967. In addition, he blames Israel for the failure to achieve a “real peace deal.” The infamous “three No’s” of the Arab League in response to the Israeli offer to withdraw from the West Bank after the Six Day War played no role; ditto Arafat’s decision to return to open warfare and reject Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s offer of well over 90% of the West Bank at Camp David. Finally, Berkowicz wants the Jews of Israel to demonstrate their humanity. He never mentions ensuring their own survival as a desideratum. So goes the “pro-Israel” case for Obama. THOSE WHO SEE ISRAEL’S SALVATION in its being pushed back to its 1967 borders have good reason to eagerly anticipate an Obama presidency. Obama has described the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as a “sore, . . . infect[ing] all our foreign policy,” and placed return to the “peacemaking” of the Clinton years is at the top of his foreign policy agenda. The express goal of that “peacemaking” will be an Israeli withdrawal to its 1967 “Auschwitz borders.” In a June interview with Jerusalem Post editor David Horowitz, Obama said he can understand Israel’s desire for “‘67 plus” in terms of security buffers, but Israel should consider whether it would be worth the cost in Palestinian antagonism. The overwhelming majority of Israel’s Jews dread a return to the Oslo process, which claimed 1,471 Israeli lives in terrorist attacks, without bringing peace any closer. Oslo made a fetish of process over actual peace, as a pattern of concrete Israeli concessions in return for recycled Palestinian promises took shape. Obama offers more of the same: “Israel’s government must make difficult concessions for the peace process to restart,” he says. On security grounds alone, the vast majority of Israelis oppose further territorial withdrawal from the West Bank at present. Earlier withdrawals from southern Lebanon and Gaza resulted in the creation of heavily armed Iranian proxies on Israel’s southern and northern borders. Israeli intelligence predicts that Hamas would quickly take over the West Bank as well in the event of an Israeli withdrawal. The near elimination of successful terror attacks from the West Bank since 2002 demonstrates that only Israeli troops and on the ground intelligence gathering capabilities can deter terrorism. Oslo taught that peace cannot be imposed from the outside and has nothing to do with signed agreements. Only a bottom-up transformation of Palestian society would make peace possible, argues Natan Sharansky, and that transformation has never seemed so far away after the Hamas takeover of Gaza. Even the “moderate” Mahmoud Abbas recently declared a festive celebration in honor of the leader of the Coastal Road Massacre in which 37 Israelis were murdered. Demonization of Israel and Jews continues unabated in the official Palestinian media. No wonder three-quarters of Palestinians say that reconciliation with Israel is impossible in this generation, even after the signing of a peace agreement and creation of a Palestinian state.

To all who voted for Obama, you either saw this coming, and were ok with it, in which case, shame on you, or you got duped like a lot of people, in which case, still shame on you. Anybody who was willing to scrape just a little bit below the surface of the pandering mainstream media coverage of the Obama presidential campaign would have discovered that Obama regularly attended pro palestinian rallies, and might have asked themselves, "What's up with that?" http://newsbusters.org/node/25609/print LA Times Withholds Video of Obama Toasting Former PLO Operative at Jew Bashing Dinner By John Stephenson Created 2008-10-25 16:37 The mainstream media are willfully ignoring many questionable ties and friendships of Barack Obama. The list does not end with the radical racist preacher Jeremiah Wright and unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. They have totally ignored Obama campaigning for the socialist revolutionary Raila Odinga [1] in Kenya. They have also ignored his ties with radical Islamic extremist Khalid Al Masour [2]. LA Times takes things to the next level. They are going beyond the level of ignoring to the level of willfully witholding informative evidence from the public. [3] The associate of Barack Obama in question this time is Rashid Khalidi [4], a former PLO operative and best friend of William Ayers. The LA times has a video of Barack Obama toasting this friend of his while attending a Jew bashing dinner, and they are refusing to release the video to the public. Gateway Pundit has the scoop [5] and what I summarize here is lifted from him. Here is a video that explains his history [6]and ties with Obama. He is a long time friend of Obama and shares a mutual friend, Bill Ayers. [7] Barack Obama funnelled thousands of dollars of cash [8] to Rashidi’s anti-Israel Foundation through his work on the Woods Fund. In 2000, Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO operative who justified Palestinian terrorism as contributing to “political enlightenment,” threw a fundraiser [9] for his friend Barack Obama. LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama’s close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April. [10] “During the dinner a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, “then you will never see a day of peace.” One speaker likened “Zionist settlers on the West Bank” to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been “blinded by ideology.” ….His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases… It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation — a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid’s dinner table,” but around “this entire world.” …The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times. Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) talked to Peter Wallsten from the Los Angeles Times about the article on Obama and Khalidi on Wednesday. I asked him if he was planning on releasing this video of Obama toasting the radical Khalidi at this Jew-bash. He told me he was not releasing the video. He also would not comment on his source for the video. Wallston also said he did not know if Khalidi’s good friend Bill Ayers was at the event or not. So, the LA Times has video of Obama attending a Jew bash and toasting a radical former PLO operative, and they are not sharing it with the public. I think we all know they would immediately release the tape if it were Sarah Palin making the toast. If not for double standards the media would have no standards at all.

shwedong, There is no doubt that "the so-called liberals and multi-culturists" are facilitating the spread of Islam in the West. I just felt your first post indicted the enablers ahead of the actual perpetrators. I do not agree that the situation leaves "thinking Muslims with no choice but to submit to the hardline" ... No, that is a convenient excuse that lets muslims off the hook for 1400 years of Islamic hegemony. The, unwillingness, timidity, (insert your reason).... of "thinking muslims" to reel in the radicals is a failure first of muslims. "I am not suggesting doing anything to help those Muslims other than stopping the rampant proliferation of Mosques and Mullahs in the West." ... on this we are in complete agreement. But the West has a higher duty to protect itself, than to make the world safe for the "thinking Muslims" ... and “thinking Muslims" have a higher duty to reel in the radicals than to insist that western countries provide them a safe haven.

Points, well taken, Hesperado, Another attempt, by shwedong in this case, to deflect the scrutiny away from Islam's core principles, and focus blame primarily on "so-called liberals and multi-culturists" and "brainwashed Mullahs" who are all guilty of putting upon the poor, innocent "thinking Muslims" ... leaving them "with no choice but to submit to the hardline, given the thug culture of Islam." The simple acid test which pinpricks this ridiculous argument is this: Whenever muslims accumulate in any significant percentage in any country, why do they always attempt to impose sharia law on all the inhabitants of that country? For instance, in the United Kingdom, where is the voice of the "thinking Muslims" in opposition to the ever increasing insertion of sharia law? Do the UK muslims have to "submit to the hardline"? After all, the UK is not Iran, well not yet anyway. The simple fact is that when you add in the percentage of muslims who actively support the imposition of sharia law, with the percentage who passively support sharia, ... and roll this is in with the percentage of muslims who take no action to oppose sharia ... guess what the collective result is when when you have a significant number of muslims in a country? Answer: A relentless pressure, on a multitude of fronts, to impose sharia law on everybody.

Whoa there, NoPC here, I agree with most of your post. But if the Jewish lobby is going to come to Israel's rescue, don't they need a plurality of American Jews to get on board with that idea? Is that really happening? Don't American Jews need to first come to the realization that, in terms of Israel's well being, Obama's election is a tragic mistake? Again, the same question ... is that really happening? Look at this prophetic article written last October: October 30, 2008 Who Says Jews are Smart?
The center "does not condemn Islam. It actively confronts Islamophobia," Geft said. ... Boy, it irks me when even those who should know better, in this case Liebe Geft, use the term "Islamophobia" as though this was a legitimate term, instead of the canard that it is. "Geft, director of the center's Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, says the films in question take on anti-Semitism and the dangers of a small subsection of Islam, not Islam as a whole." "... dangers of a small subsection of Islam ..." Small subsection my ass ... this guy can't see the forest for the trees.
“Without a doubt, this case is a grim reminder of the seriousness of the threat we as a nation still face,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement. “But it also reflects what we can achieve when we have faith in our criminal justice system and are unwavering in our commitment to the values upon which the nation was founded and the rule of law.” ******************** That's right, Eric, it's all just a big criminal action, isn't it? We can all be safe from this threat by just sitting back and letting our marvelous criminal justice system zero in on all of these perpetrators of "man-caused disasters” ... can't we? I am sure we are all frustrated that our wise leaders can't be bothered to crack open a rudimentary world history book to enlighten themselves about Islam's 1400 years of hegemony. But to ignore the fact that we are at war (Bush got the "war" part right, even if he didn't properly frame the enemy), and to keep placing the main focus on processing this as a criminal action ... flies in the face of really recent history. The first World Trade Center attack occurred in 1993. Clinton processed the threat as a criminal action, which led to the second and devastating World Trade Center attack in 2001. Bush realized we were at war ... but hey, almost eight years later, and no attacks on US soil ... the "war" must be over! Our current leaders are actually that stupid, that they cannot learn a history lesson from just 16 years ago. We can all go back to letting our law enforcement system run down all these perps, and giving them their day in court. ... What could go wrong?

Jihad Watch : Jihad Watch: Iraqi government rushes to defend Iranian-backed jihadists

Drewbenstein, My assumption is that Iran will not allow themselves to be "talked" out of their nuclear program. When Netanyahu decides that all reasonable efforts for a peaceful solution have been expended, (a time fast approaching), he will resort to the military option. Had McCain won, I could easily have seen the US pulling the trigger. With Obama as POTUS, Bibi knows its going to have to be Israel. I take Bibi at his word. The following article is only one of many recent ones indicating his intent: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200903u/netanyahu Netanyahu to Obama: Stop Iran—Or I Will by Jeffrey Goldberg the last two paragraphs are telling ... The Israeli threat to strike Iran militarily if the West fails to stop the nuclear program may, of course, be a tremendous bluff. After all, such threats may just be aimed at motivating President Obama and others to grapple urgently with the problem. But Netanyahu and his advisers seem to believe sincerely that Israel would have difficulty surviving in a Middle East dominated by a nuclear Iran. And they are men predisposed to action; many, like Netanyahu, are former commandos. As I waited in the Knesset cafeteria to see Netanyahu, I opened a book he edited of his late brother’s letters. Yoni Netanyahu, a commando leader, was killed in 1976 during the Israeli raid on Entebbe, and his family organized his letters in a book they titled Self-Portrait of a Hero. In one letter, Yoni wrote to his teenage brother, then living in America, who had apparently been in a fight after someone directed an anti-Semitic remark at him. “I see … that you had to release the surplus energy you stored up during the summer,” Yoni wrote. “There’s nothing wrong with that. But it’s too bad you sprained a finger in the process. In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with a good fist fight; on the contrary, if you’re young and you’re not seriously hurt, it won’t do you real harm. Remember what I told you? He who delivers the first blow, wins.”

This should underscore, once and for all, the folly of "nation building" in the land of Islam. We had the muscle in place to force a secular government, (fragile and tenuous though that secular status might arguably prove to be ... perhaps an impossible task, but at this point how could we not try?). Instead, we allowed sharia into the picture ... and ... the result? The result is that for all the human sacrifice of brave American soldiers, who gave their lives or suffered irreversible physical injuries, and all the $billions of financial sacrifice America has made, we are going to get ... <gag> ... another piece of shit Islamic government, where, if you are a Jew or a Christian, your life is at risk 24/7.

pr126, How is this for one possible gone wrong scenario? Obama: Hey Chef Muhammad, thanks for tonight's spaghetti & sausage ... but I have to tell you, the sausage looks a little funny, and it smells REAL bad! ... and it tastes awful! Exactly how did you make it? Chef Muhammad: Ah, now, Mr. President, you know nobody wants to know what really goes into sausage <he he he>.

"There is something very wrong here. If the church leaders themselves don't have the courage to stand up to what they believe what do they expect from the followers? It is into this vacuum that Muslims come in with their sex prophet and his crazy and shameful laws." Perfectly stated, Thomas, and EXACTLY what is happening in Europe with the demographic jihad.

You know, ... you can't just travel all over the world, set up a "militant training camp" here and there, and run how - to - assemble - bomb websites without ... money. Now, ... I am sure Oussama Abdullah Kassir, James Ujaama, and Haroon Rashid Aswat have all been gainfully employed in totally legitimate activities (perhaps working at the local McDonalds, where they might defecate on the random Big Mac). I know it's a long shot, but just in case they are getting their money from some deep pockets with a global jihad agenda, one would hope that our law enforcement officials are doing due diligence to find out just exactly who is funding these clowns.
