Yes, really. Notice number 1. Number 2 would also apply since people like PZ Meyers perceive atheism vs. theism as a war.

To add to what I said above, I've noticed that PZ Meyers never actually discusses anything on his blog. He issues an edict and then gets pissed if people don't instantly get on their knees and say 'Yes master'.

Look at his responses in the dictionary atheist thread on his blog. When some people don't agree with him he insults them, in addition to the insults he already threw at 'dictionary atheists' in his original post. It isn't enough for people to be atheists, they have to be militant, hate spreading atheists, to satisfy the almighty PZ Meyers. It's clear that he considers himself the GOD of atheists and that his edicts must be obediently followed, or else you're stupid and not a true atheist.

To me, it seems that one of the main reasons atheists don't like religious zealots is because of their pomposity and arrogance. Some religious zealots speak as though they're all-knowing, righteous, pure, superior, and God-like. Well, PZ and many of the blowhard internet atheists speak pretty much the same way. They remind me of politicians who obviously think they know what's best for everyone on Earth, and that ANYTHING in contrast to what they say is ALWAYS wrong and stupid.

I consider myself an atheist, because I am not theist. In other words, I don't believe in any Gods. Think of the word 'atypical'. It simply means not typical. Atheist simply means not theist. The 'a' means not and that's all it means. There are plenty of other words that can describe the beliefs or non-beliefs anyone may have. There's no good reason to try to make the definition of 'atheist' any more complicated than it actually is.

There are many reasons why someone is an atheist, but PZ Meyers will only accept that people must have a reason that suits him. The 'examined life' bullshit he spews is yet another clear example of his robot-like way of thinking. The only emotion PZ has is hate. Otherwise, he acts and speaks like a machine. In fact, he's very much like a very limited computer. He is locked into his self-imposed, militant atheist programming and clearly doesn't have the desire to deviate at all from the limits of that programming. He sees things as his way or the highway. Yep, just like a lot of religious zealots do. It's no wonder that many religious people accuse people like PZ Meyers of having their own religion; the 'religion' of atheism, masked by an alleged basis in science. In other words, people like PZ pretend to be scientists who only think rationally and logically, but spreading blind hate and being a malignant narcissist isn't rational or logical. When it comes right down to it, it wouldn't matter if science even exists. PZ would still be an arrogant blowhard who expects everyone else to kiss his ass and worship his every word. PZ is as obsessed, self-righteous, and arrogant as any proselytizing street corner evangelist, or any political loudmouth like Palin, O'Reilly, or Limbaugh.

Edit: I was just thinking that PZ Meyers should call himself an anti-theist, since he's OPPOSED to theism. In fact, he should label himself as a militant anti-theist. It would be a lot more accurate than calling himself an atheist.

PZ is a pompous, malignant narcissist. It's abundantly clear that he expects everyone to agree with him in every way, and if they don't, he hates them and thinks they're stupid. He's obsessed with spreading hate, and as was stated above, is an attention whore. He's really off the deep end and desperately needs some counseling. He's doing atheists more harm than good and he makes religious zealots look sane.

To the OP: The only thing wrong with your post is that you're being way too nice, and respectful, to PZ. He doesn't give any respect and doesn't deserve any either.
