I don't tell anyone who doesn't live under my roof how to spend their money. When I was 19 and had a good job with no real bills, I was saving money but had enough to buy silly things like a $500 custom lightsaber.

Not nan muhfugga was going to tell me I couldn't get whatever I wanted with money I had earned my damn self. This kid can buy all the belts and shwag he wants. If he earned the money, no one in the black community, the police or the internet has a right to judge his wallet.

Black people shouldn't be slaves to materialism OR antimaterialism. Just because we've BEEN poor does not mean we should hoard our money and live in the slums.

I'd personally prefer she had a mate who was strong as a person, regardless of their financial standing. I've been poor, been down and out. Lived through it. Life goes on.

Also, I have had wealth. I've had pretty things and disposable cash.

I don't see rich and happy as necessarily hand in hand. Just as I don't see beauty as a sign of a good fit. But that's my view from the road.
