<title>Patrick J. Buchanan : U.S. To Break Up Soon? </title>
<link>http://buchanan.org/blog/u-s-to-break-up-soon-2368#IDComment36743475</link>
<description>A couple of observations on this so called break-up. As a Canadian relative of mine said 10 years ago &amp;quot; You guys tried that in the 1860s, didn&amp;#039;t work&amp;quot;. We all know how that turned out. The other is the misnomer by the &amp;quot;historian and linguist&amp;quot; from South Africa that we were an &amp;quot;empire&amp;quot; commencing in 1790. Hardly. We have maybe been a world &amp;quot;power&amp;quot; for, at the most, 100 years or so. The years from 1790 through the ending of the 19th century we were only a bit player on the world scene. With these 2 facts in mind, break up isn&amp;#039;t going to happen. </description>
