http://ourmothersdaughters.blogspot.com/ : {pretty, happy, funny, real} ~ Sukie\'s Living Room Edition

Your place reminds me of our first apartment....same beige carpet, same white walls. However, I loved it because it was ours....together and that made me truly happy!:) Enjoy this special time.:)

I LOVE the Mexican tiles! I have secretly looking up real estate in Taos, NM and Flagstaff, AZ. It hasn't happened for a while that I wish myself away from the cold here in MN, but lately, I've fallen into the temptation of the MLS! Trains are the best. We have a train store in St. Paul called Choo Choo Bob's that Nick keeps talking about. I should probably do his 3rd birthday party there! "Moment savored"....love that! That's why we blog.:)

Sad for you that Pippo is gone.:( That little high chair looks so lonely. I LOVE the shawl....that color is something else. I really want to knit a cowl for myself to keep my neck warm, but that won't help my arms. Maybe a shawl is the way to go. Only I need the ability to move freely around the house so I'll have to find just the right thing.;)

I remember reading somewhere he is a doctor. My husband is, too. He's a Doctor of Chiropractic which I lovingly tease him about. I say he's not a real doctor so as a joke I call him a "quackopractor." He pretends to be upset with me, but it is playful banter. However, his profession does take a lot of flack from the other disciplines. I had no clue THAT is a rank in the army. You learn something new everyday!;)

Glad to hear your mom is feeling better.:) All the photos are just wonderful, BUT I had to take a moment to comment on the one of Pippo and Brinkley. I almost flipped because we had a dog for a month that we had to surrender to rescue. It just didn't work out for us which still makes me sad. One of our oldest daughters has fallen in love with Westies and I just had to show her that pic. She flipped, too! Boys do need dogs....ours need a dog, but our family is just not at a place to have a dog right now. It sounds like you've thought it through. Dogs are very expensive and just like children, BUT they don't grow up to speak or take care of themselves, they don't wear underwear, and don't use toilet paper. Brinkley is really cute, though.:)

http://ourmothersdaughters.blogspot.com/ : A little kitchen spiff that makes me happy.

"...every single time I went to bake, no me gusta.".....LOL!!!! This Mexican gal gets it! It made me think of this post of mine: http://ourfieldoflittleflowers.blogspot.com/2010/... It's kinda long so you just might want to skip down to the Far Side cartoon....classic! Oh, and thanks for the perspective. I haven't been blogging much over at my place nor commenting anywhere else because of the 2 year old and all the kids at home that I'm supposed to be homeschooling! Yes, I am still alive.:) However, I did pull 2 kids over to help me take all the stuff out of my pantry so I could stick some shelf paper on the roll out shelves so I could feel better about something in my kitchen!

Oh, thank God he is home and God bless you and all the military wives for your sacrifice and perseverance. What an amazing feat you all undertake to be away from your husbands for such long intervals. Enjoy these special moments together getting reacquainted, catching up, and readjusting. So happy for you all!!

I love the video/story idea. That's wonderful that he actually likes to sit in front of the tv and follow along with his own book....too cute!! About the peaches, you can use this website for canning or making preserves: http://www.pickyourown.org/ I might post on our peach canning from pics when we did it two years ago. One thing to remember is to have plenty of space for the sanitized jars, scalding the peaches to get skins off (boiling water bath...large stock pot....and a cold water bath....large bowl of ice water), and you'll need a largish cutting board for cutting up the peaches. I used a mango/peach juice to can without sugar. The juice had no sugar which was nice so we didn't have a syrup for the canned peaches. They were awesome! Good luck!

I love when I'm on the same page with you! I just ran off to IKEA last evening looking for little things to round out the house...you know, make everything run a little bit better....extra glasses, bookends, etc. I found this platter: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/001884... which I immediately loved and that Paul commented on, too. He and I love platters for feeding our large family. The kids are getting better at eating salads like this....large taco salads, caesar salad, and greek salads. I love your ideas in this post and the recipe...thank you!

Lots of fun going on there.:). One of my husband's colleagues trained bluebirds to come to her home to feed and nest. She feeds them meal worms. I thought of doing this and Paul is encouraging me, but maybe when the kids are bigger. None of our baby birds made it...finches, cardinal, and robin families all lost their young. It was very sad for the kids. See you on Thursday!
