Longmont Times-Call : Withheld wages: Enforcement a patchwork for workers across Colorado - Longmont Times-Call

The low penalty of $300 and 30 days in jail was the only way to get this passed. Now other legislators can use this cap for their feathers and increase the penalties. Not that it will matter much, if prosecutors don't bother.

Longmont Times-Call : Johnnie St. Vrain: Does concealed carry require extra liability insurance? - Longmont Times-Call

I carry a million dollar umbrella policy, and occasionally I carry a Colt 1911. The policy was intended to extra coverage on cargo in leased trucks. The Colt is generally intended to protect the cargo from being declared in a claim. To further insure that those with criminal intent might consider the truck, its cargo, and the driver protected, it is important to wear the Colt exposed. No CCW is necessary. The $1M policy wasn't intended to cover the injuries of an attacker, but in Gun-Shy Shopper's world (and probably a bunch of lawyer) it might.

There was a hoar frost and rime ice accumulation during a rather freakish storm in the FL panhandle in the late 90s. Thousand of trees were seriously damaged, mostly fruit trees. But it did look beautiful for a few hours.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder Army Store, an \'institution\' since 1948, to close in January - Boulder Daily Camera

Seriously (2 decades)? I own a tent and at least two high quality sleeping bags bought there. A fine assortment of fanny packs, and a couple of 'old timer' folding knives. The Long's understood to support the fire fighting community by way of a discount, if you knew to show your state issued wildland red card (nothing to do with MJ). Note that the Long's are not closing their Glenwood store, in the heart of the state and climbing country. If you're not an outdoorsy person (SBGM?) then losing the Army Store won't be something you'll miss. For the rest of us ... we will

Longmont Times-Call : Burglar enters through roof, takes $5 from Longmont shop - Longmont Times-Call

Oddly enough there was someone on our roof (a business) on Friday night while there were two people inside the building. We believe that person was trying to gain entry through a swamp cooler. One of the neighboring buildings has a staircase leading to its roof, and easy access to ours and another business. This case can't be closed, because no report was taken. A few weeks ago a guy tried to enter a business through the roof and ended up stuck in a wall for three days. Not a lot of investigating done there either. If the culprit hadn't been trapped on the premises, then that case would also have been closed. Case Closed

The cell phone argument is a failure. CU PD lives in reality, not TV (NCIS, CSI, Agents of Shield) Triangulating the location of a cell phone takes time and a warrant. A blue light phone's location is known.

Not just Carr, but Douglas (asst CA) who arrived from Longmont after being shown the door. In 2008 the Longmont council had more executive sessions than public hearings, and more in one year than in the previous 28. Douglas was working for a record, having called all these executive sessions to give counsel on the seven lawsuit he had cooking. Upon his departure the council settled all but two of the suits, and vowed a sharp curtailment of secret meetings called by the CA or CM. Carr hired Douglas and the fun began in Boulder. Prior to Clay Douglas' arrival, there wasn't a lot of need or desire to meet in secret. The very last thing that Carr or Douglas will want is a review of their cooking. The records will be destroyed. Either by intent, or by 'accident'. Good Luck Mr. Phelps ...

A curfew violation for a 35 yr old? how's that work? also noted possession of drug paraphernalia because this town is still convinced that the voters were misled by re-legalizing marijuana. Mayor Coombs correctly apprised that the majority of voters didn't understand the question and mistakenly voted for legalization and himself twice. Yes, indeed Dennis, the voters are stupid. Longmont continues to maintain a section of code dedicated to eradicate marijuana use. The cops don't have to enforce these antique codes, except when they're adding up charges.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” -Joseph Goebbels
