Yes, men in that situation should also realize that they have rights and are entitled to legal protection from women who would attempt to use the children as pawns to get back at them.

I'm going to tell you, the reason I said "mental malfunction" was because the comments came across as nothing more than vitriolic self-hate in the form of women vs. women. It was just evil. Nobody seemed to be able to express an opinion that was relative to why they believed it wasn't a good idea. It was all "dat bish must be lazy" or "she ignorant & bitter". I hate to see women go for each other's throats like that.

I still don't see how an order of child support can be seen as vindictive, even to the woman who goes to file with that in her heart. How exactly does that work?? And I definitely don't see the point in someone telling you that you should seek an order of support for your child's father knowing he had no income. Who can get blood from a turnip? That makes no sense at all.

See, as good of a man he seems to be, you still have the info you would need JUST IN CASE he decides to flip for whatever reason. I don't think that's bitterness on your part because ya'll aren't even together and never really were (I read your Mommy Memoirs). You're just making sure BabyBelle will always be able to get what is rightfully her. If you don't advocate for her, then who will?

I made the same choice in regards to my son's father. He was pissed that I decided to get an order of support after 8 years of NOTHING from him. He told me his lawyer told him to stay away from our son. *sigh* But after a lot of wrangling, I decided to drop it and just go on and live. All that hassle for a few measly dollars as hard as I work? Nope, I don't think so. Besides, I was messing up my own situation by taking off days just to go to court with him. We've been better off with nothing at all from him. No price you can put on peace.

I used to dance to my rhythm on paper and sing out loud for the world to hear.
I used to make a memory into a melody...with nothing but a pen in my hand.
I used to think backwards to myself, write it down and it made sense to the entire universe.
I made you believe I was The Moon personified and Living Art.
I had you commiserating on Perfect Inadequacies and Contemplating Hope.
I used to be able to just say it to get you to think it.
I was comfort in the unfamiliar.
I was the much needed laugh.
I was your personal amen corner.
I was common sense and the sublime.
I spoke to your lust in a way you knew you never could.
I made you wonder if it was live or was it Memorex.
I was a verbal pugilist, kickin' all kinds of ass.
I was the lover that visited you in the quiet of your night.
I could whisper and break the sound barrier.
I recounted your Wonder Years.
My words were prayers answered.

Let me just say this...

I am a Mama. Two kids, ages 15 & 10. While I don't have to spank much now at that they are up in double digit ages, please believe when they were little, I whupped ass. Whenever and wherever necessary. I had "The Look" and I'd even talk through my teeth, but the Strap of Fury got much play and I tapped those behinds! And since I did it then, I don't have much problems now.
