Hollywood keeps stealing from the Asian film industry and never gives them credit for their originality. I have seen several Kurosawa films thanks to Netflix and TCM. I think Ikiru was my favorite, and also the "lesser Kurosawa" that is on TCM right now, One Wonderful Sunday. But I have to admit that his samurai pictures don't interest me as much as his more modern day Japan films. I like his films when they are more like Ozu's or Naruse's films, my two top favorite classic Japanese filmmakers. TCM never plays Ozu films and once in a blue moon they will play Sound of the Mountain by Naruse. I think that is tragic: they should show more Ozu and Naruse films.
