The key is to maintain a healthy profit in terms of $ and %. Zero or negative profit equals death. This is Business Basic 101. Thefore the GM BOD should have forced the GM management to restructure and get rid of unprofitable business units, operations, products, etc. when GM had their first annual loss (2005). If the GM BOD would have done their job, we, the US tax payers would not be bailing out GM and giving a tax dollar cash transfusion to a dead business entity. I am also concerned that President Obama will fund the UAW pensions, health care, etc. with our tax dollars as a "thank you" to the union. The union was/is the biggest contributor to the GM debacle, and should share GM's fate. I can see another bailout coming , the UAW.
