This is what Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of Penang said :

"......the minister has falsely blamed the Chinese businessmen because the community no longer controlled key economic sectors like banking, insurance, motor vehicles, electricity, rice, sugar, oil, gas, commodities, transport and communications.

How can Chinese traders or businessmen be blamed for something they do not control, especially when the federal government and government-linked corporation (GLCs) control other key sectors of the economy?"

Basic supplies like rice and sugar are controlled by Syed Mohktar and because it is a monopoly with no competition, we the ocnsumers find the prices of rice and sugar not coming down although world global prices of such prices have dropped tremendously. TNB is a GLC controlled by the Malays but every year we have to pay increasing electricity bills although the fuel prices like petroleum, gas, coal and gas have also dropped significantly.....and every year we read of TNB making billions in profit.

And why is the government so persistent in awarding APs to the few handful of Malays who became billionaires just by collecting such 'toll gate' commissions while the rest of the population have to suffer by bearing extra costs of virtually every product just so these handful Malays live a luxurious lifestyle ? If the government were to take out this AP policy for the Malays, we would see an immediate reduction of prices in almost all goods across the board, making a vast improvement in the purchasing power of the rakyat.

The minister used the example of White Town Coffee which is a public listed company. He asked why this chain of Coffee outlets do not decrease their prices in spite of the drop of petrol at the pump. But why is he singling out only such outlet ? What about those franchised outlets like KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Huts, A&W ? These are all Malay-owned, but their prices are unchanged too. It is most strange only certain ethnic-owned companies and outlets are singled out to be blamed and be boycotted.

Already 57 years ! So when you said " over time, with better education...", do you mean perhaps another 50 years ? And how is the professor 'crying wolf'' as you put it ? Should the situation be reversed, let's say the vast majority suffering now are the Malays, would you then also claim that whoever is sounding the belated alarm is also crying wolf ?

Who is the MB for Kedah now ? Is his fingers on the pulse of this burgeoning religious fervour in his state ? What is planning to do ? Or is he going keep mum too, in line with his big boss's policy....silence is golden, non action is even more golden.

Yes...the US...but their schools don't start classes with a Christian prayer nor do they have a priest put in place in every school. Moreover, their first school a few hundred years back started with one stream, unlike ours. We NOW in fact are STILL improving on our Bahasa Malaysia language with many many new words every day having to be incorporated in.

We can have a single stream but are they willing to change drastically many aspects in the current system which have lowered the standard to the shameful level we have now ? For example, will they maintain the two different marking systems for examination ? And will they still want to maintain that passing mark for exams be under Official Secret Act ?

I don't think they are confused at all. They are quite clear headed. What they want is control. To control who reads what and when. Should the majority of their 'flock' reported to them that they have indeed read the book and if a big majority ( or even if ALL) informed them that they were not confused, these people would still be insistent on a ban.

"Now that they have nothing to lose, they should tell Malaysia the whole truth ".

These men have families too....may be there are "ways" to shut them up so that their families are safe ? So the public might not get to hear the 'whole truth' even if these men are facing death sentences.

Very well articulated on this very contentious topic of freedom. But as far as Malaysia is concerned, the majority of the people have been too insulated and kept on the straight and narrow by their religious, political and peer leaders to ever see the light for many many decades on if the current status quo is allowed to be maintained.
