I wouldn't mind if that Dock was a tourist trap and a memorial to the people in the Tohoku Region but I think we are about to get a lot more debris as large as the Dock. Scientists predicted the debris will get to the Oregon Coast in 2013 but it came early. We are just at the beginning, and I think for the next few years we'll be reading more news articles similar to this one.

Because it's only been the past year that the Public Opinion has shifted in favor of legalizing marijuana. Support for legalization has been growing steadily the past decade. On October 28, 2010, Gallup released a poll that found 46% favored legalizing marijuana http://www.gallup.com/poll/144086/new-high-americ... Washington State and Colorado voters will get the opportunity this November to vote on whether to legalize marijuana. Oregon may too depending on whether it gets on the ballot. It's Fairview Ave. that the skateboarders use once they get to the top of the west hills using the Washington Park Max Station and it is because of Charlie Hales that it's legal for skateboarders to use roads and skate down Fairview and create dangerous conditions. Before Charlie Hales, the Police could prevent such dangerous conditions but now they can't because of Charlie Hales approving skateboarding on streets in 2000 when he was a councilman .

The main point of what happened in Washington is that voters thought that prices would be lower if they deregulated the state control of liquor but didn't realize that they were also voting to increase the taxes on liquor. Liquor is cheaper in California but will be more expensive in Washington. If we in Oregon ever get to vote on a ballot measure to deregulate liquor sales, we all have to take a lesson from Washington and make sure there are no new liquor taxes.

Ending the Free Rail Zone is a really big deal, I'm surprised it's not bigger news. Rail and at one point Buses were free in Downtown Portland for decades and it definitely shaped the character of the city by making it a more pedestrian friendly environment. At the same time, it clearly amplified the problems associated with the homeless and street kids. But ending the free rail zone will fundamentally change Downtown Portland for the better and worse. Less rowdy and shady figures on trains and a decrease of pedestrian activity that would have fueled local businesses.

These two girls sound really dumb. They run over a pedestrian on Burnside and then decide to park their car outside of a 24 hour QFC and then start arguing. That section of Burnside is really dangerous though. It's very dark, I don't recall any sidewalks and the speed limit is higher than most comparable roads in the city.

Those bathrooms are hideous. I visited one and it felt like being in a prison cell. I can't imagine all the grotesque things that happen around those toilets. When I was a Starbucks once, I went to the bathroom and found blood all over the toilet seat with a needle sitting at the top. I don't want to know what could possibly happen in Leonard's ghetto bathrooms.
