There was a kerfluffle between Biden and PETA about his adoption of a puppy from a breeder in 2008 instead of getting a shelter dog. Later, there was an issue with the breeder when people realized that not all of the dogs would be in the luxurious house environment.

The same kerfluffle was going to come when Obama adopted the dog from Ted Kennedy's breeder, but they stated that the girls had allergies and had to have a specific type of purebred dog that didn't shed, if I recall correctly.

The only links that I have are from the Christian Science Monitor. There was one mention of a story by NBC Philadelphia, but I couldn't get it to work through the link provided. The Biden issue was from December of 2008.

I wonder if the cable DVRs send info back to the companies to tell them exactly how much and what we watch. I know when I leave the cable news on, the DVR shuts off transmission after about 6 hours or so, and I have to press "OK" again. I think that is a way they double check that you are actually watching.

Regardless, what little respect I had left for Oprah I lost in 2008.

Kevin, thank you for sharing that story. I can only imagine how you must feel. I, too, was a big fan of hers and mourn her loss. But your story adds another dimension to the loss because reading your story made me feel like I, too, got to meet her that day. Again, thank you for sharing that beautiful moment in your life.

When I got the Sega CD add-on for my gaming system, I had one of my first music players that didn't involve headphones. ;) Two of my first CDs were the soundtracks from Waiting to Exhale and The Bodyguard (despite the fact that I never saw either of the movies). I wasn't as into the music scene back then, but I do remember loving her voice.

Your tribute was touching. Thank you for sharing your memories. It helped bring a tangential matter into perspective for me today.

Only when we come to Christ through faith are we given the power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). Until then we are not reconciled to him and are merely His creation, not His child.
