Doc, great write up as usual. I wanted your opinion on the following issue. Let me preface by saying I'm probably the biggest Dean Ambrose fan around (if you doubt it, check my post history). It genuinely perplexes me that this myth of Ambrose being one of the most over guys on the roster has circulated so much through the IWC. The truth is, he barely gets a reaction beyond he courtesy baby face pop. Would the crowd have sounded any worse if, say, Neville was out there against Y2J last night? Last night was not the first time this happened, either. Crowds have been silent through Ambrose matches several times now, whether the opponent is Jericho, Braun Strowman, or even Seth Rollins. As much as it pains me to say it, I think it's time to let go of this notion of Ambrose being a big player in the WWE. He just isn't connecting.
No mention of Dean Ambrose in your prediction section? I'm really crossing my fingers that he doesn't get lost in the shuffle of mid card obscurity.
It's so hard being a Dean Ambrose fan *virtual hug*
I'm gonna say this - I know a lot of people are rolling their eyes about a potential loss for Ambrose, but people are forgetting how far down he was this time last year. He was a glorified punching bag for Rollins and Wyatt, looked bad at the Rumble, then dramatically fell down the card and became another "name" in the WM Ladder match. This year, Ambrose is front and center. And he's been booked to be someone that matters. I can think of a handful of matches that they could have easily let him lose (think back to Sheamus v Ambrose Cage match on Raw), but they protected him. I'm really excited to see where this goes, because Dean Ambrose deserves it.
Wrestler of the Year: John Cena (let's give him his due, people)
Match of the Year: Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan (so underrated)
TV Match of the Year: John Cena vs. Cesaro
PPV of the Year: WrestleMania 31
Feud of the Year: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
Most Memorable Moment of the Year: Orton RKO's Rollins
I don't think they care about ratings. If they did, they wouldn't continue to make asinine decisions. People shouldn't blame Roman for this. WWE had a potential hot feud, i.e. Brothers turned enemies with Reigns and Ambrose and they chose Sheamus instead. It's almost as if WWE is the one sabotaging Reigns.
Heel Ambrose vs Reigns = creative way to bring heat and will give the crowd a reason to make noise for Reigns, cheers or boos it doesn't matter.
Sheamus vs Reigns = silence
How will a Sheamus/ Reigns main event get the crowd to "stop booing" Reigns?
As an Ambrose fan, this one hurt. I came in to tonight thinking Ambrose will finally have some direction. Hell, even if he loses to Reigns, he could turn heel or he could be the face that chases a heel Reigns. So many options. I was wrong. Instead, Ambrose will be pushed back down the card, and we'll have to endure Sheamus vs. Reigns. I'm at a loss for words.
As an Ambrose fan, I've read atleast a dozen stories about how Ambrose is in line for something big in the last year or so. I'll believe it when I see it..
Your "new face of fear" qualifications come into serious jeopardy if Fandango finds the need to interrupt you.
