Great article,and totally agree with Preston's comment about your well written post. -Just today one of my twitter followers from Florida asked me about the red-neck ratio in Boulder and Co. Springs. I deflected the question because I did'nt want to admit the sad fact that there are some,(very few) rednecks in Boulder, (that I know about). Luckily those *folks* and the *imbecile* you encountered are few and far between:)

Thanks for the help. I've also read and heard about a few other studies that supported my statement,just have never formally documented them,mostly found them interesting at a personal level.

I was at the 420 last year for the first time,standing off to the side by the Law Building observing the event as a sober professional,curious and intrigued by something so OnlyInBoulder.I'd guess there was about 8-10.000 people all having a great time,out in the great Boulder weather,and was especially impressed with the demeanor of the Boulder Police Officers and how amiable in a professional manner they were. I can understand the concern the CU regent's must have,given the extreme growth of the industry,and increased attention/exposure this event has garnered,but please keep in mind that this event has a historical significane for future generations that could cast CU in a very positive light,when MMJ is legalized in every state,and revealed to be a pro-active way of increasing revenue and stress reduction for every adult over 18/21.

When I first moved to Boulder from Maui in 95, I would roadbike out highway36 for about 10/15 miles out and back without wearing a helmet,just a baseball cap.I noticed a lot of glares and *stinkeye* from other cyclists when I would wave or nod (something every cyclist did on Maui). A couple weeks later I was working with a client who was a professional cyclist in Boulder,and I asked him about it,and if the other cyclists had issue's with me not wearing a helmet..........he said no,most hardcore cyclist here just have attitude:-)
