The best way to ensure a bright future for the UK would be to rescind Article 50 and face the future as an influential member of a strong European Union

I was struck by how reluctant Kavanaugh was for the FBI to investigate. Surely he’d jump at the chance to clear his name

And we have 735,000 unfilled vacancies in the last quarter according to the ONS. Who will fill them when the EU nationals go home?

I'd never be so impertinent as to assume anyone's gender. It's none of my business.

We're very much on the same page. I think she'll call a GE - (just like she managed to do last time under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act) because she'll be out of options. Or she might simply resign and leave that to her successor. It'll go hand in hand with extending Article 50 - if HMG is leaderless I think the EU27 will readily agree to a pause in the timetable.

We're effectively at full employment dear. Who will fill these vacancies apart from immigrants?

"The crazy thing is no-one has a problem with the border controls between Norway and Swedan, and the EU and Switzerland."

That's because Norway is part of the Single Market and Switzerland is effectively the same.

Au contraire - we can already control non-EU migration, which is the real bone of contention for the UKIP/EDL faction - the immigrants whom one can tell are immigrants from across the road, shall we say.

Ironically, Brexit may well increase such migration - the vacancies have to be filled by someone after all - leading to Quitters crying bitter tears into their G&Ts, and bemoaning the modern world.

It must come as a shock in the rarefied atmosphere of local government to realise that Brexit affects real businesses employing real people serving real customers.

You're correct but why would it be a bigger problem for the EU? It's back to the old 27 against 1 scenario.

'Fighting' implies having an alternative proposal and persuading the other side of its merits.

What is your alternative proposal?
