AfricanLoft : On Michelle Obama's Inaugural Outfit

Thanks for the closer insight Gloria. We may be able to see close up shots later. Many commented that they liked the dress and I was wondering what sense of fashion they had. So I could be wrong. Cheers :)

AfricanLoft : On Michelle Obama's Inaugural Outfit

Agree with you Misi, Michelle Obama felt and looked very out of place at the Ball. Well this is what happens in unfamiliar territories. She may have had to listen to people and follow their advice on dressing etc, maybe so as not to offend. I will advice that the Obamas especially Mrs, tactically refuse to be changed to what she is normally not. Her husband doesnt seem to have any problems sticking to his guns. The real Michelle came out better when she and her husband were doing the walk and she spotted some of her very own.

Thanks for the speedy share of the events in videos and write up Caretaker. I am happy I can tune in to these on African Loft from time to time for a long time to come. President Obama is annointed to be great and he will be. He will succeed in office and will run for 2 terms and America will witness positive change during Obama's tenure as president in Jesus name (amen).

AfricanLoft : Two Million at Obama Inauguration

Watched it live on Sky News. It was indeed momentous and history was made in more ways than one. God will guide and guard President Obama. The innaugural lunch was also interesting. Sad about Senator Ted Kennedy who suffered a seizure at lunch and was taken to hospital. May God spare his life. Well the Bushes are gone, and a fresh new hope for America is in.

AfricanLoft : Nigeria: 600 Days of Governor Fashola of Lagos - Summary of Q&A Session

Thanks for sharing this. This is what Democracy, government of the people by the people for the people is really about. Transparency in government, accessible governors, and open house surgeries are all good hallmarks and trademarks of a government that is enlightened, progressive and self assured. Well done Fashola, you are a trend and pacesetter and we value this. I pray other governors emulate you. How I wish Mimiko was not cheated of his Mandate for so long. We too in Ondo State would have had good things to share that even Fashola will envy :) :) Anyway better late than never. The end of the road is near at hand for Agagu the charlatan, impostor and joker. Peace

AfricanLoft : Does Anyone Give a Damn About Uganda?

Is there any reason why Africa/Africans cannot care about Uganda? Why do we always have to wait for the Western World? When they try to assist, we tell them to get lost and say they have ulterior motives, when they don't we complain. Dont think I am supporting the Western world.

True say Clement. But if Africa unites to fight and ward of competitors and stick to their guns in resilience, to be honest, we could do it. China came a long way to be where they are now in every aspect of their industry, from clothing to other advanced technologies. These so called dominators now patronise China.

AfricanLoft : Miracle on the Hudson: Pilot Ditched Jetliner into Frigid River, All Passengers Survived

Dare, it is sad that in the present times we could doubt the expertise of the Nigerian Pilot. In the 70s Nigerian Pilots were world class, training exemplary and the way they land planes.... effortless and smooth. ~Even when Nigeria Airways became defunct, the trained pilots of those years who sought employment outside Africa, had good luck. This just hammers another nail into the coffin called "Nigerian Deficiency". In Politics, Education, Finance, Morally and so on, Nigeria seems to be sinking deeper and deeper into oblivion. I long and yearn for the good old days when I would stand at the roof top and say it out that "I AM NIGERIAN AND PROUD". What can we do to restore dignity to Nigeria? That said, yes the rescue system would have failed. For example, if there is a fire in Lagos, fire engines respond, get to the site and start asking if there is anywhere they can get water!!! Naija o. God please teach us to do the right things, on time.

I echo the idea behind building these buses which is "the transfer of technology in Africa". I pray that in every African country this transfer of technology develops and touches on other areas of life and not just buses.... eg..... constructions, IT, electrical, motoring and so on.

And if it is really you ~Dr Donald Ford, I may now be able to charge you for all those trips we all made with me as everyone's taxi driver in Iyabo's brown VW Passat. African Loft is really bringing good and "good" memories of those years gone. Read more about me on the Community Pages.

AfricanLoft : Kenya: Anger at Waste on Obama Trip

I can understand the Kenyans anger at the money to be spent but I believe it is befitting for Kenya to have a delegation sent to represent Kenya, for Obama's innauguration should be a source of pride to Kenya. But maybe the officials are going on a free for all spending spree as typical of my dear people whose main interest would be to enjoy and show off. The government would be to blame if those going have nothing to represent Kenya about.

Would this be the same Dr Ford (is it Donald)? The same that I took visiting places like Olumo Rock at Abeokuta, Disco at Ibadan, Culture tours etc, and the same that operated the dog while a squeamish me had to wear the apron and assist? The dog survived and Suzanne was so happy when we went back the week after? Please let me know. African Loft is really reuniting old friends and acquaintances. Facebook will be jealous

AfricanLoft : An African Hero: Dr. Denis Mukwege Mends Raped and Battered Women of Congo

It is even more commendable that Dr Denis Mukwege, a man, is helping correct what other men are destroying. I pray that God rewards him plentifold, and I pray that God punishes the evil perpetrators of rape. Shame that the Congo government are not in the position to castrate all perpetrators of rape, more so that many of them are within the government and military. Yes Misi, reading especially the last paragraph of the post, it is disheartening and makes me too angry. The poor women are probably damaged for life by these rapes. Many have sexual diseases given to them including HIV, many concieve and getting pregnant for a rape villain makes matters worse. It is good lesson that whatever assistance we can render in any given circumstance should be rendered. But prevention is still better than cure. Dr Dennis should expand on this project and solicit for assistance and even foster such programmes in other countries. Well done.
