Film School Rejects : Shouting Match: Should They Terminate the \'Terminator\'?

I thought they did a fairly good job on Salvation. The plot was certainly a surprise. I think people are just comparing it to T2, which is really hard to do. It's a completely different film. When you delve into the future after judgement day, you have a whole lot to explain. I think that's why people will be satisfied with a few more films delving into the mythology a little more. Who knows, maybe they'll get Cameron to give it a second look. I bet you'd be happy then, wouldn't you?

Film School Rejects : Fans Move That The Joker Be Retired in Honor of Heath Ledger

They're going to re-cast for the third movie. Heath gave a great performance, but that doesn't mean someone else couldn't couldn't do a good interpretation. I doubt they'll be retiring him any time soon.

Film School Rejects : Eliza Dushku Wants Black Widow Role in Iron Man 2

Wow, I didn't know Dushku was considered for MJ. She would have been a heck of a lot better. I think people are hating on Dushku a lot, but I've always been a fan. She was especially great on Buffy. So I say give her a chance. She could do a phenomenal job.

Film School Rejects : Opinions: The Power of Snub

I see where you're coming from too, Josh. But, I'm going to have to go with Nicholas and Jim on this one. TDK was popular, but that doesn't make it non-Oscar worthy. Does it make the Academy look elitist? Hell yes it does. The very least they could have done is give it a nomination. And doesn't it make the award category a little more exciting when you don't know who's going to win? I thought that was the fun of award shows. Well, go figure. TCCOBB or Frost/Nixon were definitely not as good. I'm just saying, we should just boycott this year and not watch it. Will low ratings really matter to them? Probably not, but at least they'd get the message.

Film School Rejects : Oscar Noms Stay Predictable, Snub The Dark Knight

I guess I'm not shocked that TDK was snubbed for pest picture. Whatever... I say we all boycott this year and go watch TDK that night. LOL We all know Heath is going to win anyways, so that was really all I wanted to watch. Although, I must give props to In Bruges. That movie was very entertaining and extremely overlooked IMHO. I guess I'm just a big fan of dialogue. And what about Let the Right One In?!?! I mean WTF? It would be good for the Oscars to get the lowest ratings ever. Maybe that will help smack some sense into them.

Film School Rejects : Should Citizen Kane Be Required Viewing for Kids?

Really?!?! I think saying it's the best movie ever made is quite a stretch. Honestly, I just watched it recently. The plot was great, and I can see why people really enjoyed the movie. I loved the "money can't buy everything" theme. One quote really stood out to me as well, "Well, it's no trick to make a lot of money... if what you want to do is make a lot of money." I'm not going to be one of the "kids" here and say that it was a boring piece of trash. You really have to look at it in context and appreciate it for its quality and attention to detail, which a lot of movies are sorely lacking these days. I took a film appreciation class in college, and this was not on the list of movies that we studied. In fact, my professor focused more on foreign films than anything else. Now had I not taken the class, I would probably never be watching any foreign films today. I always thought reading the subtitles was way too much work. Now, I couldn't imagine missing out on incredible films like Let the Right One In. So, should it be required viewing for high schoolers? Eh, I have to disagree there. If you force them to watch movies like this, you're going to get a negative response, and they will never want to watch older movies ever again. I say it should be offered or at least discussed in any film class in college. In that case, the student actually chooses their schedule and what classes to take, so presenting a movie like this in college would probably garner less harsh attitudes towards older movies. Discussion is also key here. If they don't like it, then they should give specific examples to support their argument. Just a thought... ;-)
