This really is a great story! As a parent of a teenage Brony and convert myself, I'm glad to see another parent that doesn't have an issue with a show that really does transcend gender boundaries. I went to BronyCon back in 2012 and I was hugely impressed by all of the people that I met. In fact, so much so, that I became one too. I wish more parents would just let their children enjoy what they want to enjoy.
After reading through this thread all I can say is: Really? I get it if you don't have wheels to get somewhere and I know the frustration at having nothing in your area...but if you want to go to a con, then you find a way. I see people in SF complaining about why isn't there a con in NorCal? Hello? What about Sacramento? Someone complained about no cons in VA, yet Cloudsdale Congress (Alexandria) and BronyCon (Baltimore) are right there.
Dude, I drove 900 miles and 12+ hours to go to BronyCon last year, because it was the closest one to where I live.
I love you guys, so get out there and meet some bronies!
If you live in SC, then you know the answer. Greenville or maybe Charleston would be about the only places that would be tolerant enough to brave hosting a con. The SouthEast in general is lacking...I think ATL has an anime convention, but that's about it. Until then, I'll hoof it on up to BronyCon.
Ohhh, Asheville, NC.....now there's a perfect place for a con!
Those were some pretty good ones! I really like "Forgetfulness"
Like many, I arrived during "The Great Conversion" and confirmed my Bronydom after I attended last year's Bronycon. I watched every episode in rapid succession and had to learn about Derpy-gate after the fact. I do wish she would make a comeback soon, I'm just not as feverish about it.
