/Film : Weeds Season 5 Trailer

Huh, I had assumed she wasn't really pregnant and had used the black chick's ultrasound to keep from getting offed. I suppose it's still possible that she pays the Alanis character to keep up the ruse, but if she really is I guess it's at least semi interesting. I can only hope so because Season 4 did not live up to the rest.

/Film : TV Buzz: Season 2 of Breaking Bad Kicks Off Tonight. Kenny Powers Joins Twitter.

I just recently caught all of Breaking Bad thanks to a marathon on AMC. I must say it was every bit as good as I had hoped. I think it's actually quite better than Mad Men. I just hope this season doesn't play out as predictably as it seems to be headed.

The Bible is better source material than The Watchmen? LMAO! The Bible is a hodgepodge of fairy tales thrown together by dozens of authors and re-edited over hundreds of years. Watchmen is a single man's vision fleshed out with little to no compromise. Religion aside, I really hope that was a joke that didn't come across. Unless of course you meant that it's better in the sense that it lends itself better to filming because it was tailor made to be violent, masturbatory, and simple; just what the masses will happily pay to watch/read.

/Film : Cool Stuff: The Trilogy Meter

A lot of bad judgments made in the ratings in general. As others stated many are not even really trilogies, and most are studio garbage to begin with. Even so, how can ANYONE think that Terminator 2 which ruined a great villain and spawned an abortion of a franchise was better than the classic Terminator.

/Film : TV Review: Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 Premiere - What Did You Think?

I certainly hope not. "Advanced Alien Race" is essentially the same as god or fate. It's an unexplained higher power that just appears and explains everything. A dues ex machina of the highest order. What makes it so easy to connect in a genuine way to the world and characters of BSG is because generally you can be sure that you are learning everything at the same rate as the people you're watching, and when info is being withheld you are usually made aware of the fact.

John Attebury "How did the Colonies Cylons know about the "Final Five" cylons whom they'd never met?" This is the one question I have been worried about for some time. I've been wondering since they were first mentioned how 5 models of cylons would be made and placed in human ranks without the other 7 models knowing who they were. Now that we know the 5 are actually from an older race of cylons it appears the only way to explain the 7 knowing about them is through a higher power, be it a god or fate mechanism. Now obviously the writers may have thought of something I didn't, and I hope so, I just hope they don't take the easy way and use that as the explanation. BSG has usually been wise enough to know that the easy way is usually the least effective storytelling, and I would hate to see its legacy tarnished by such a poor choice at the end.

I definitely agree with the amazing impact taking Earth out of the equation has. It was a move that I think most fans expected, but it was definitely the right one. No where was this game changer more realized than with Dee, I feel much the same about her, and am sad to see her go, even though it made for a great end to her story. I would disagree with you though about her dying happy. When Lee says he saw joy in her eyes, I believe it was just a desperate grasp by both of them toward anything that resembles happiness, but they both knew it wasn't real, and that's why she goes out like that. She takes what passes for happiness and ends things before it can fade again. I am actually very disappointed in Starbuck's revelation though. I don't really see where it can go, which I guess is supposed to be the fun of it, but it's really felt gimmicky to me ever since her incarceration on New Caprica. As for Ellen as the final cylon, it was another reveal that was sort of anticipated, and I'm a little disappointed Moore didn't have something more surprising or relevant to do with the final cylon. I never really liked Ellen as a character, she was more just an accessory to Saul (my favorite character). I don't feel like this adds anything relevant, but who knows. Maybe Moore still has an angle to work there. My only major complaint about the episode is Roslin. She's been a whiny stubborn bitch the entire series, and now she's added petulant sulky little crybaby to her repertoire. I really don't see what Adama can see in her. Overall though, this episode stands up to high quality I've come to expect from BSG, and I still consider it the best show on tv. The Earth resident being cylons was an awesome reveal, and I can't wait to watch Adama hold the fleet together after this.

I really didn't like Face of the Enemy. It all came off as very forced and thrown together for the sake of marketing. I think the main message was supposed to be that Cylons have all kinds of "people" just like humans, even dangerous ones. However I feel they did it poorly, and a lot of people did come away with "oh, so all cylons are evil".

This is how I approach the series as well. It's so rare that film or television has this kind of raw power in it's storytelling that I have decided to simply give myself over to Ron Moore and the writers, and allow them to emotionally manipulate me by not thinking to much, and just experiencing it.

/Film : Why So Ridiculous? Does The Dark Knight Have The Most Ridiculous Film Plot of 2008?

Because just like the Joker said, when everything goes according to plan it's just boring. The thing I've always liked about Batman is that he doesn't always win on absolute terms, it's a character than many writers have been unafraid to take into greyer areas. I can see the good guys save the day and get the girl in not just any other comic movie, but in any piece of shit studio film that comes out. I'd rather see stories closer to real life where you don't always win, and even when you do it's rarely how you want and sometimes even pyrrhic. In fact I would even say the whole point of Batman is to explore a hero who doesn't get to do all the Superman theatrics. There's no limelight for him, no legions of adoring fans, and no grandstanding as the symbol or truth and justice.

Which is kind of disappointing. If anything I would have liked to see a Darker ending. If you think about it TDK actually has a VERY happy "yay 4 gothum" ending. The people on the boat show they are "above tyranny. Gotam gets to keep its idol Dent. The Joker is brought to justice. If you think about the "Good Guys" win, and big.

While Mathias Galvin has already done a good job of displaying the way Joker had not so much a "Brilliant convoluted master plan" as a simple goal with various contingencies to achieve it, I'd like to add a bit about those goals. There are way to many comments already so sorry if this has already been said. (Speaking of which you should really get a /film forum, much easier to use) The Guardian article implies that the Joker's plan seemed to end with him getting into jail with no reason. As has already been shown, this was not the goal at all, it was just one more thing Joker had planned could happen, and had a way out. The reason Joker viewed it as an acceptable outcome was because besides knowing he had an escape plan, he could also use the opportunity to get to the Chinese Banker. If I remember correctly he was still the only one who knew the money's location at that time. If the Joker could get to him he could get the money and fuck with the gangsters. Remember Joker wants to fuck with EVERYONE, not just the "good guys". ("I see the mobsters grinding out a profit, and the cops fighting them block by block. It was all so boring". He clearly hates the Gangs and their kind of "Order" as well.) As for the seeming contradiction in him calling himself a "dog chasing cars" (which I thought was one of the best scenes of the movies because it showed how convincing and manipulative he is) it was simply a lie. Joker lies with impunity because the "Truth" is a part of maintaining "Order" which he is generally against.
