DUDE..that was THE reason she said she was resigning. The mountain fake ethics charges were threatening to bankrupt her family and it was impairing her ability to do the job because it took up all her time.

‘She wasn’t qualified to play Sarah Palin. She wasn’t a competent actress I think that became quite evident during the filming of "Short Cuts" and "Boogie Nights".. It was so shocking to me when she waved her bright red beaver all over the screen for everyone to see. I was stunned. I just think that shows such an unbelievable lack of intelligence and class in the actual film making.’

Big Hollywood : 'Contagion' Review: Not the Ideological Moments You Expect From Matt Damon Film

Gee, this movie sounds like the feelgood date movie of the year. Why anybody would fork over good money to watch a virus epidemic horribly kill everyone in sight is beyond me. That's Entertaiment!

Sound and fury signifying nothing, and in the end all you have is just your opinion, and as we all know, opinions are like ...you. Acting like a d*ckhead doesn't convince people you are right, it just convinces them you are a d*ckhead. Now that we've seen how full of hate you are, choke on your hatred, hater.

You've read this entire thread, with all the phony outrage and corksniffing commentary by people who haven't even seen the movie (something extremely common on this forum) and all you can come up with is that I might be conceited?

It is done to establish that Wilson's character is a typical dippy liberal Hollywood scriptwriter, something that is essential to any main character in a movie. Would you believe he's one if he came out waving the Stars and Stripes and extolling the wisdom of invading Iraq? Of course not.

He was. As soon as I heard it I went "oh geez, here we go', but he's portrayed as kind of a goofy dreamer, a hack Hollywood script doctor. How else would you portray a Hollywood screenwriter than as a confused liberal? Isn't that what this website is about? A handful of throwaway lines at the start of the movie to establish who he was quickly went by the wayside as the movie went on. I had my reservations like everybody else before I saw it but wound up being thoroughly entertained in a nice light comedy sort of way. I didn't feel bludgeoned and violated like some with the faux outrage around here.

He didn't just NAME DROP, he actually had Owen Wilson having philosophical discussions with many of them. Apparently you are a little slow on the uptake. Maybe you were determined to hate it. The Tea Party stuff was throwaway dialogue just to pinpoint Owen Wilson's character. If you remember, his potential inlaws called him a commie. Not enough for you? Yes, you are Mr PEDANTIC.

He didn't name drop, Wilson's character did engage in philosophical discussions with them. The movie is about nothing more than nostalgia. Since Paris is such an ancient historical city Allen was able to go back in time to illustrate that every generation has it's golden age where people wish they could go to revel in what their imagination tells them is there. Some of his historical characters even wish they could be transported to other times. He comes to the realization that instead of wishing for the past it might be better to embrace the present.

Great critical thinking there, Hoss. Where did I say that was what made the movie good, much less the only thing? That was initially very offputting, as others here have so grossly overreacted to. All I said was that he was in turn called a commie. So we're even. ......so your post is a legitimate debating point because.........?

I've seen Midnight In Paris twice and think it is the best movie I've seen this year. I haven't liked much by Woody the last 10 or 15 years, but I really liked this one. So Wilson's character doesn't like Republicans; his In-laws to be call him a communist. There, they're even. Get over that and you might just enjoy a good movie.

Big Hollywood : The Hollywood Revolt, Part 3: Boomer David Mamet Discovers The Secret Knowledge

Mamet's book is terrific, particularly the way it is set up as has been said, in a series of short essays where he examines and then kicks over the various anthills of liberal dogma. A terrific and enlightening journey through Mamet's conversion, it also illustrates and arms you because as a writer he can elucidate an argument so much better than you can.
