That all checks out, but pray tell, why is being a "faggot" a bad thing on 4chan? Is it because the people using the word consider being gay to be a bad thing? Well, there's no tangible or quantifiable way of determining whether they do or don't, unless of course, they are directing it as a gay person in a derogatory way. I more than understand people's disdain for 4chan's use of the word, but like it or not, there is no CLEAR, PROVEN AND TANGIBLE link between their use of the word faggot and an underlying homophobia in their community. I won't deny that they are quite a few bad apples on 4chan who will use it to demean gay people, to do so would be intellectually dishonest of me, but their efforts are ultimately ineffectual. Gay boards and gay themed threads (particularly on /co/, much to my delight as a comic book fan) on 4chan exist and will continue to exist on 4chan for the foreseeable future.

@Shillmaster9000 also pointed out the use of -fag as a suffix on 4chan, which is more often than not used to denote certain types of posters (newfag, oldfag, samefag, furfag, drawfag, writefag etc.)

Ultimately, what 4chan has done, if only within the realms of their own community, is retaken the word "Faggot" and made it their own. Words may sting depending on how they are used, but without context, they are meaningless.

On 4chan, "faggot" isn't a homophobic slur, it's just what they call each other. It's completely meaningless to them, like calling someone an asshole. They aren't using faggot to denigrate gay people and make THEM feel bad about being gay, they do it to denigrate each other, ahem, for the lulz. It's irreverant and it doesn't hurt anyone. If the OP was gay and people were calling him a faggot because he was gay, that would be denigrating. If the douchebags over at /pol/ decided to waltz into /y/ and call THEM faggots, that would be denigrating. Offense is taken, not given.

As for your comment on horseshoe theory, you can't prove any of that.

4chan has had an official Yaoi board for longer than Tumblr has even existed, Bob. Do your research. Also, look up horseshoe theory while you're at it, because lately, especially in your discussion of anything that positions itself as anti-feminist or anti-PC, you've been sounding more and more like the left wing equivalent of Alex Jones, with sayings like "hand-wringing thinkpieces" as if the reptilians are plotting against you with their mind-evaporating editorials that nobody is forcing anybody to read.
