Usually during the discovery process, the side being discovered will give everything, and sometimes it winds up being truckloads of paper (extreme cases). It is for the other side to discover that is relevant, and what is not. The whole idea is to overwhelm the opposition, both in cost and looking for the 'needle in the haystack' und often (always?), a judge will put a gag order on the process, so the secrets do not come out, except in open court. Of course, the entity being discovered (is that the correct term?) doesn't have the ability to discern what is important to the other side, and what is not. It would be like the fox watching the henhouse. Essentially, if one side gets to comb through their records to bring stuff to the fight, then so does the other. Oh yeah, the unedited tapes from O'keef and Giles would be subpoenaed as well, as will be the number of places they went (which is what I am curious about... was this all of the ACORN offices they went to, or were they thrown out of any?) . If the number of ACORN offices is >70% that gave them advice, one would have to assume they are done for.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it." Frederic Bastiat Well done, Maryland!

Interesting place, Massachusetts. When a Republican is governor, the legislature passes a law to have a special election. When the governor is a Democrat, it votes to have him/her appoint an interim senator. I think, to save money and to be consistent, the law should simply read: If the United States Senator from Masachusetts cannot complete their term in office: . a: If the governor is from the Democratic Party, the governor shall have the ability to chose an interim senator until the next general election. b: If the governor is from the Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, or any party considered to be repulsive to the Kennedy family, there shall be no appointment made until a special election can be called and exevuted. At least, in this case, the premise matches the acts. (and yes, I know that part a is different from what was actually passed (the governor appoints a successor until the special election).

That would eliminate the zero liability voter, now, wouldn't it? A zero liability voter is one that gets to vote for the person that promises them the greatest good without that person having to spend a dime.

If you mean by "it takes money to make money," when are all the lies about "it's an investment" from the government going to pay off? Here's the game: 1. Find a problem. 2. Find out how much it costs to fix the problem. 3. Esitmate how much it will cost to not fix the problem. 4. Minimize 2,Maximize 3, give it to the ad men. 5. Never fix the problem, and keep spending money. 5a. It also helps to redefine the problem along the way so it never gets fixed. See poverty (Great Society Programs in the 60's.. Trillions of $ spent, poverty is still at 12% +/- 3%), Space Program (why isn't that privatized by now?), Social Security (let's keep buying the old people's vote with the young people's money...oh yeah, and put the money in the general fund, so deficits look smaller...)

Luck is when opportunity and preparedness meet. I am lucky to be born in the USA, as I had no control over that. After that, it is up to God and me to make the most of it. Thank you for ceding the argument to me, as I call it a win when my opponent calls names. Game, Set. Match.

I take exception to people saying that he is not qualified to be President of the USA. Here are the qualifications: 1. Be a natural born citizen. (until proven otherwise... let it go...) 2. Attain the age of 35 years. (check.) 3. Get more delegates from the states to vote for him (check...) I am not a fan of this guy, but he is the president, and if we stay in the November 3, 2008 mode, well, then what are we accomplishing?

Sorry for repeating this, but here, in reply to Robert's comments, it is germaine: You are baking brownies, and a Democrat and a Republican offer advice on making the brownies better. The Democrat tells you that adding 6 pieces of cat poop to the batter will make them the best brownies. The Republican, aghast, tells you that no more than 3 pieces are to be added. They leave to talk to their buddies, arguing as they go. They come back 10 minutes later, and the Democrat says that he was mistaken, and 12 pieces need to be added, and the Republican says that the Democrat is utterly clueless, and tells you that only 6 pieces of cat poop should be added to the brownie mix. How many pieces of cat poop do you add to the brownie mix if you intend on eating them? How many will your Congressperson put when they bake your brownies? (My guess is a number > 0)
