My first and only shiny was a Nidorina on my crystal version. However, it fails in comparison to the Chansey I caught south of Fuscia the very same day. In the middle of the ocean.

Moral of the story: There are better things in this world than shinies, and more special pokemon than legendaries. The Sea Chansey has taught me this.
