I called the murder and assult unit at the Seattle Police Department at 206-684-5550 as given to me by the non-emergency police line, but they aren't there on weekends apparently. I'll call back on Monday to see if I can be of any help to the detective who is on the case.

The balcony in that 5 story Broadway Building across the street. You know, the building that has the Blicks Art Supply, Panera Bread, Gamestop, the yogurt shop, etc. That's a residential building. The building that's nothing BUT balconies. LOL.

Heh. I'd rather poison myself by eating rusty nails laced with cat urine than watch Fox News. That stuff will rot your brain. In fact, I don't watch TV at all. Cancelled my cable months ago because Comcast got to be too much of a douche, but I digress. I really have no opinions at all about the Occupy movement in general. My opinions about Occupy Seattle, however, come from what I see with my own eyes day in and day out from my balcony and walking the streets of my neighborhood, and seeing a gorgeous Capitol Hill neighborhood turned into....this.

I hear ya on the Dick's burgers. Those things are so good, they're evil! I'm just tired of the whole thing though. The piles of garbage are disgusting. The tent city strewn with tarps and signs tied up to trees, and hay thrown all about is an eyesore in an otherwise beautiful neighborhood. The close proximity between the college and my building make for an echo chamber, so the 3am chanting and bongo drums and people banging on plastic buckets resinate throughout my apartment. I'm all for free speech, but after a certain time, it's time to be respectful of your neighbors and allow them to get some sleep, especially on weeknights when most people have to work the next morning. What I don't understand, is there's nothing in this neighborhood that would warrant the need to camp out here. There aren't any banks around. No giant evil corporations. Just a community college, a walgreens, a few bars, and some residential buildings. I read they are looking into getting a warehouse to rent and camp out in. Now that's something I can get behind, and even help support financially!

Actually, no where in the article does it say a member of the Occupy Seattle movement was the attacker. It simply says that someone was assulted, and the attacker ran into the camp. I witnessed the whole thing, and this article is 100% accurate. They're just rehashing what was most likely on the police report. Read my reply above to get my account of the incident since I saw it from my balcony right across the street. As far as the police not being able to find someone in the camp, it's entirely possible since they arrived approximately 30 minutes after the attack, and the man they were looking for was most likely long gone.

Continuation since my original post was too long: The other men stayed behind and argued some more with the man who was assulted, and eventually left and walked into the tent city. At this point, I went back inside of my apartment (it's damn cold out there!) About a half hour later, I went back out onto my balcony and saw a police cruiser sitting there in the median, right next to the crosswalk in front of the main entrance. I didn't see the guy who was assulted nor the officer. That's pretty much all I saw. I didn't think much of it until I saw this report popping up online. I was thinking of calling the police to give them my account of what happened, but I doubt it'll do much good, and I'm sure they have better things to do.

I actually saw the whole thing from my 4th floor balony in the Broadway Building across the street. It occurred to the right of the double bus stop right in front of the main entrance to the college between the bus shelter and the cross walk. The man who was assulted was holding a sign, but I couldn't see what it read. He was approached by some guys. I didn't get the count. I heard them arguing, and one of the guys knocked the sign out of his hands. He protested, and one of them punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground. He hit the sidewalk pretty hard. He got up, and I thought they were going to get into it. Yelling ensued, but I couldn't make out what was being said. I did make out a few choice four letter words though. The man who decked him started running, and ran into the tent city. He was white, had a full beard, long straggly light colored hair, and dark clothing. I couldn't make out the color of his clothing because it was already pretty dark out. I tried to see where in the tent city he went, but he just disappeared, probably into a tent.
