There are 16,800 homicides and $2.2 million (medically treated) injuries due to intimate partner violence annually....u missed that... You gotta look a bit beyod the NRA's website for truth.
Dont forget homicides by handgun 9,200, or justified homiceds committed by police. So maybe it's actually 5000/1. My bad.

The equivilant of 4 justified homicides fill up the Rose gardens with unjustified deaths.

I guess my point is, keep these things locked up. The scary thing is that a 14 year old could access it. I mean thank god he did, and probably a very responsible kid, but 14?....

Hallelujer, we agree on little, but I appreciate your comment.

You do realize having a gun in the home is 10,000 times more kill someone in a suicide, domestic violence, or accident than it is to kill an intruder. This AZ story made national news due to it's rarity. If every accident. suicide, and domestic killing due to availability of a handgun made national news, you'd never get the weather report.

I too am happy the teenager stopped the guy. This is one of those rare cases.

I personally know of an accident and 4 suicides from people I know / Knew, and 3 domestic killing that took the life of a woman her 2 sons and the suicide of her boyfriend about 300 yrds from my home, all from handguns. I know of nobody having killed an intruder, or even scaring one off for that matter.
